Role overview

VSO is committed to designing and delivering programmes that are evidence-based, reflective, effective and accountable. The process of evaluating our work, and utilising that learning to improve quality and effectiveness is a central process in our programme framework.

This position leads a team responsible for the generation of quality evidence and thematic expertise across VSO’s portfolio of work and for managing the overall learning and knowledge management process for effective programming.

Skills, qualifications and experience

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of driving programme quality and leading and supporting organisations to become knowledge-driven.

You will need to have a thorough understanding of the current international debates on development effectiveness, evaluation and policy research, as well as the socio/political/economic issues driving development and poverty.

Experience of working at a senior level in a large, complex development organisation, and programme design, monitoring, evaluation, and learning management will be vital.

This role will be based in Bangkok, Pretoria, or Nairobi. Applicants must have the right to work in one of those countries to be eligible for this position. We will be unable to obtain a visa and work permit for those who do not have the right to work.
