BACKGROUND                                                        

Help without Frontiers (www.helpwithoutfrontiers.org) is an NGO that has been set up to provide aid, help and relief to Burmese refugees and migrants in Thailand and Burma.

Since 2002, Help without Frontiers has provided support along the Thai-Burma border to displaced people who find themselves in emergency situations from which they are unable to escape without assistance; most of them are children and youth, and we give them a chance for a better and brighter future.

At Help Without Frontiers we focus on five core areas; Education; Youth; Health; Community Development; Child Protection

Vision

To create a world where help can be provided to the most vulnerable and marginalised populations without discrimination, without exclusion and without borders.                

THE ROLE

This role sits within the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising team whose role it is to engage, educate and publicise the work of help Without Frontier Thailand (HWFT) and raise vital fundraising for our advocacy, humanitarian and development work.

The Marketing, Communications and Fundraising team works closely with the HWFT Team in the Mae Sot office, across Education, Rays of Youth, Health and Admin as well as the international offices and their corresponding teams The Marketing, Communication and Fundraising team has functional responsibilities for:

  • Brand development for the brand and marketing materials
  • Product development and materials collation
  • Marketing Communications strategy and development for HWFT
  • Fundraising strategy and proposal implementation for HWFT
  • Design, production and distribution of marketing and direct appeals materials (print & email)
  • Digital and social media management for HWFT
  • Financial budget management for the marketing, communication and fundraising department.
  • Thai translation of marketing materials and activities

 

JOB PURPOSE

 

Be responsible for project managing the development and delivery of marketing materials and activities, implementing marketing campaigns, and product development and delivery, with the aim of optimising fundraising potential and attracting and retaining current and new financial supporters. The postholder will also manage and coordinate the content, print, mail, social & distribution schedules for different activities and products within the Marketing, Communication and Fundraising division and across the wider organisation.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Project manage the development and delivery of marketing materials and activities across all communication channels, for regular cash appeals, management of current donors and seeking out new fundraising opportunities in conjunction with the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager. This includes taking the lead in scheduling and printing materials, digital content and assisting with proof reading, translation, artwork and image and copy approval (providing content and translated content where needed).

 

  1. Managing the donor database and keep up to date.

 

  1. Be responsible for monitoring spend and keeping production costs of appeals within budget.

 

  1. Support the work of project teams where the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager is the project lead.

 

  1. Work collaboratively with the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager in developing and implementing effective marketing & advertising campaigns, that will attract target numbers of participants/ supporters for key events, campaigns and fundraising.

 

  1. Work with the Marketing, Communications and fundraising team to develop media plans that promote or publicise campaigns, and maximise web and social media opportunities.

 

  1. Working across HWFT to generate stories for the HWFT website and publications,

 

  1. Collaboratively working with the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager on the creative direction and design of print and online materials and oversee their production,

 

  1. Running post activity analysis to interpret, compare and initiate for future appeals and will create the basis for future strategic planning.

 

  1. With the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager (and other Engagement Directorate managers as appropriate), review the effectiveness of all marketing and advertising strategies, with the aim of identifying and documenting successes and learning for future planning.

 

  1. Keep HWFT’s marketing procedures and documentation up to date.

 

  1. Be responsible for recruiting, inducting and managing Marketing, Communication & Fundraising interns that are employed to support the Marketing & Fundraising Coordinator’s work, providing appropriate support and guidance.

 

  1. Undertake any other activities that may be delegated or requested by the Marketing, Communications & Fundraising Manager, that are in keeping with the scope of the role

 

 

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

·         Experience of working in a marketing and/or fundraising environment which includes involvement in delivering marketing campaigns and developing collateral materials

·         Experience and knowledge of donor databases and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

·         Fluency in Thai and English (spoken and written)

·         Knowledge of and experience in using InDesign, Photoshop and /or Illustrator

·         Experience of scheduling and project management

·         Experience of working in a target driven environment

·         Experience or knowledge of data analysis and reporting

·         Experience of working in the Not for Profit sector would be an advantage

·         Experience of print design & distribution would be useful

 

       Professional skills

·         Strong analytical and numeracy skills

·         Excellent  IT skills particularly in Microsoft applications, including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

·        Ability to establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

·         Proven ability to coordinate activities across teams

·         Project management skills

·         Negotiation skills
