Starfish Country Home School Foundation is a Thai Foundation operating education and protection programs in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces.

 The Foundation is entirely funded by an American based endowment with the Starfish Education Foundation and as such its operations are financially secure.

 The mission of the Foundation is to elevate and improve access to quality education for all children living in Thailand. We do so by operating our own Kindergarten and elementary school in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai province.

We want to develop a much stronger connection with the communities around our center. We have discovered several small communities of marginalized Shan, children of ethnic minorities and Thai children and we want to develop programs able to help these children to access our school and/or receive education services as well as be safe.

OVERVIEW

As Outreach Worker you work with local communities to identify the most vulnerable children and develop plans to support them.  This includes case management and planning of outreach activities to provide education and care to children unable to access our or other schools and centres.

ROLE

• Survey the communities around Mae Taeng and develop positive relationships with the leaders;
• Open individual case management of children in the community;
• Collect and explore situation the children different options for their future need;
• Trace and assess family situation the children provide based on their needs such as: counselling, life skills, education, materials support, income generating, etc.
• Plan outreach activities in communities where vulnerable children live;
• Monitoring of the delivery of services to maintain the best quality.

REQUIREMENTS

• You are an independent and dynamic social worker, passionate about social services who is able to work in close collaboration with other teams and organizations
• You have a strong commitment to quality and positive results the marginalized population
• You have a strong interest in ensuring children live in safe communities
• You are able to think about solutions to help children when our traditional programs cant be accessed (for example, mobile education and life skills training when children are not allowed to access schools)
• Your knowledge of Shan is a plus
• You know how to use emails, MS Word and instant messaging
• You have no less than 3 years’ experience working as a social worker focusing on case management and/or outreach
• You don’t mind spending most of your working hours in the community.
• Be prepared to work flexibly hours  certain situations.
• Degree or masters in relevant field  with preference of social  or development qualifications or 3 years’ experience in a similar position.

LOCATION:  Mae Taeng, chiang Mai province (accommodation provided)
