CONTRACT LENGTH: One year with possible extension
Reports to: The Senior Phang Nga Field Coordinator, with technical supports from 1) DRR Specialist and 2) Senior Bangkok Field Coordinator.
Number of direct reports: 1 (DRR Project Officer)
Implementing Areas: The Deep South Provinces (Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat) and Nakorn Sithammarat Province
There are two main objectives of this post as follow:
Child Safety & Disaster Risk Reduction objective:
The Child Safety & DRR Project Coordinator needs to ensure that the Child Safety & DRR programme is being implemented effectively to meet the project’s goals, objectives, and expectations as outlined in the project proposal(s) and in accordance with Save the Children policies and procedures: which includes advocacy, planning, implementation, management capacity building, accountability, and monitoring; with Government partners, local authorities and NGOs.
Humanitarian objective:
The Child Safety & DRR Project Coordinator is a key humanitarian focal point of the country programme. The Child Safety & DRR Project Coordinator will assist the Senior Phang Nga Field Coordinator in technical support from the Humanitarian Manager in ensuring effective, timely, and relevant humanitarian responses are delivered in Thailand according to the international humanitarian principles, Save the Children’s Approach to Emergencies, Rules and Principles of Emergency Response, and Emergency Standard Operational Procedures (SOP)
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
1. Ensure timely and quality delivery of “Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) and Comprehensive School Safety (CSS) in the Deep South of Thailand and in Nakorn Sithammarat Province (The Alert Little Tun)”
Project through strong coordination with implementing partners Luukrieng in the Deep South and The Foundation for Children with Disability (FCD) in Nakorn Sithammarat province, local authorities, network agencies, target communities, children's groups and other stakeholders.
2. Actively contribute to development and revision of programme implementation plan, Media & Advocacy plan, MEAL plan; provide as need support to the sub-awarded partner and government stakeholders to develop and revise their implementation plans.
3. Provide support to the sub-awarded partners on grant management through ensuring cost-effectiveness of the sub-award, budget revision, timely and quality reporting, active communication and branding, as well as ensuring eligibilities to donor's requirements
4. Provide technical support on disaster risks reduction (DRR), disability inclusive disaster risk reduction (DiDRR) and climate change adaptation to the sub-awarded partners, government stakeholders, and participating children's groups
5. Lead in the development of project publications and documentation in order to communicate success stories, lessons learned, and advocacy messages
6. Lead in developing "Safe School curriculum for DiDRR" through inter-agency coordination with various stakeholders
7.Work in coordination with the Child Safety for Survival & DRR Specialist and the Senior Bangkok Field Coordinator to document and operationalize best practices for the integration of road safety and water safety related interventions into the Comprehensive School Safety (CSS) assessment process. Representation & Advocacy:
8. Ensure that Save the Children's work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies and Government, and take a leadership role within inter-agency coordination forums, ensuring the specific needs of children are being addressed.
9. In collaboration with team members, feed in learning experiences and evidence to relevant global indicators.
10. Pro-actively identify case studies and research opportunities which link with wider organisational strategic objectives
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning:
11. Work with MEAL Coordinator to ensure collection of relevant data to measure the impacts of the project
12. Provide support to the sub-awarded partners to monitors outcomes and results of the project through regular field monitoring, quarterly meetings, and maintain regular communications with the partners
13. In collaboration with team members, Finance Manager, Award Manager, ensure timely and quality narrative and financial reports to donors
General:
14. Deliver high quality results in line with the objectives agreed in advance in order to maintains the reputation of Save the Children
15. Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, and other relevant policies and procedures.
