Background/IRC Summary:  

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Psychosocial Manager (PSPM) oversees an integrated, multi-phased psychosocial component within the

IRC Health Program that aims to improve the community’s ability to detect and deal with the psychosocial needs of refugees living in three camps in Tak Province

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to psychosocial team in psychosocial treatments, and monitor case management and psychosocial service delivery to clients in 3 camps.
  2. Oversee the psychosocial program activities and provide advice, support and assistance in development of training materials, community awareness raising IEC materials, and others as necessary to achieve project goals.
  3. Develop data collection and analysis system for ongoing case monitoring, and submit on-time report to concerned stakeholders (IRC Management/Donor/Partner/Government) regularly.
  4. Develop training materials and manuals for capacity building for Psychosocial staff, and tools and methods for evaluating long term impact of psychosocial interventions.
  5. Monitor Psychosocial program budgets and spending plan to ensure expenditures are on track and utilized according to donor requirements.
  6. Develop and implement Psychosocial staff training plan and implement according to timeline and staff turn-over.
  7. Develop, implement, and monitor the project work plan, and notify any delays or barriers.
  8. Develop and collect quantitative and qualitative data through interviews to monitor and evaluate program progress, and exploring needs, challenges, and contributing factors in local context.

Job Requirements:

Education: Degree in Psychology/ Mental Health (Master in psychology/mental health is an advantage)

Work Experience: Minimum 2 years working experience, Working in a temporary shelter is a requirement.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated high-level skills in program and project coordination, management, mentoring and multi-tasking
  • Professional demeanours, good listening skills and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong experience and skills in managing and mentoring multicultural staff.
  • Computer literate with strong excel/database and powerpoint skills
  • Experience in financial management (budgeting) a plus.

 

Language Skills:  Fluency in English. Burmese, Thai or Karen is a plus

 Working Environment:  The position will be based in Mae Sot, a town in the North of Thailand, with frequent and regular travel to the 3 temporary shelters in Tak Province.
