Accountant 1 position

 

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Start Date: As soon as possible

Compensation: Competitive salary with benefits (Performance bonus, 21 days annual leave, health insurace and provident fund) 

Reports to: Finance manager

 

The Organization

ActionAid is an international organisation, working with over 25 million people in more than 40 countries for a world free from poverty and injustice. ActionAid Thailand (AAT) is part of the ActionAid International Federation and has been working with people and communities in Thailand for a decade addressing issues related to poverty,  human rights, education, and women’s and youth’s empowerment.

ActionAid Thailand is expanding its operations and looking for highly skills and motivated Thai nationals with good English communication skills to fill the following positions:

 

Accountant

The position is responsible for the day-to-day and monthly accounting and in administration of the Finance Function. The position will ensure that accounting practice is performed in compliance with ActionAid International (AAI) and ActionAid Thailand (AAT) procedures and regulations

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

Cash management

 Review requisition/cash vouchers (against budget, coding, authority, policy, supporting docs, accuracy)

 Handle designated payments through cash payment vouchers with due approval of the authorized signatories

 Maintain cash sufficiency for daily activities but within the cash balance policy

 Monitor the level of cash impress within the given limits.

 Tally cash in hand with the cash book balance at the end of each day and report deficiencies or surplus to the line manager

 

Bank management

 Prepare cheques and related vouchers for authorised signature

 Prepare bank payment vouchers and ensure that adequate evidence (supporting documents) are attached

 Monitor bank balance of AAT to ensure that AAT has adequate funds from Asia Regional Office

 Ensure that bank balances levels always remain in debit

 Ensure safekeeping of cheque books and vouchers that are void

 Liaise with banks and AAT network and provide support in all matters related to AAT bank accounts including information tracking, request for opening and/or closing of bank accounts, bank services, etc.

 

Book keeping

 Maintain accurate record of all transactions

 Update bank books and cash book daily Job Description and Person Specification

 Carry out cash count monthly together with Finance Officer (FO)

 Do bank reconciliation monthly to ensure that entire bank book statements are tallied with bank reconciliation statements as collected from respective banks

 Make proper entry of all the cash and bank transactions in the SUN accounting system

 Check ledgers, statements and accounts to identify errors and take any necessary corrective action

 File all the necessary documents related to finance and ensure its security and safety

Job Description of Accountannt

Qualification & Experience

  • A Bachelor degree in Finance and Accounting management is required.
  • 4 years up practice experience in accounting, preferably an NGO sector.
  • Thorough understanding of the international and local finance and accounting systems
  • Good command on using MS.Excel and also accounting software.
  • Knowledge of database and SUN system is an advantage. 
  • Experienced in financial reporting, analysis and management.
