We are looking for

Field Officer based in Pattani for 2 positions

The ICRC regional delegation in Bangkok provides assistance to victims of violence and works with authorities in order to improve the conditions in detention facilities. It is covering operations in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. It also endeavours to promote and to strengthen humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.

In this position, you will be expected to call upon your communication skills and your empathy to support the protection activities of the ICRC in the southern border provinces and assist the organisation fulfil its mandate.

Your main responsibilities

• Promote the ICRC's activities in the southernmost provinces of Thailand
• Contribute to the implementation of projects/programs
• Maintain contacts with ICRC’s interlocutors
• Make presentations on the ICRC’s mandate, activities and humanitarian principles to local stake holders and academic and religious circles
• Carry out local Melayu/English/Thai verbal translations
• Monitor news reports and share analysis of any developments in the region

Your education and experience:

• University degree
• Good command of English
• Knowledge of local Melayu is an asset but not mandatory
• Good computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Good knowledge of geographically assigned environments
• Holds a valid driving license and is able to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles

• Good understanding of the political, geographical, social, and cultural environment of the Southern Border provinces
• Good communication and analytical skills
• Able to work independently and travels extensively while showing initiative for assigned projects and programmes
• Respectful of the cultural diversity and specificity
• Able to work in a multi-cultural team and willing to contribute to a good team spirit
• Working in remote areas
• Strong motivation to humanitarian work
