Plan International – Entrepreneurship Consultancy
Introduction:
Plan is an international, child-focused development organization that strives for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. Plan works to a) empower children, young people and communities to make vital changes that tackle the root causes of discrimination against girls, exclusion and vulnerability, b) drive change in practice and policy at all levels and, c) support the safe and successful progression of children from birth to adulthood.
Plan Thailand is implementing GE project in Chiangrai province of Thailand. The GE project aims to empower 90 vulnerable young women and girls to realize their rights to healthcare services and economic security. This will be done through the provision of access to information and education in health and basic life skills as well as through market-led vocational and entrepreneurship skills development.
The project’s objectives fit and aligns with the goals of GE Foundation, the donor, on building skills needed by young women and girls to promote their economic security in global economy as well as on improving health knowledge and practices of vulnerable communities including improving access to healthcare services and education.
Background:
The project has supported young women and girls in ten target communities in Mae Chan, Mae Fah Luang and Mae Suey districts to establish micro-business groups of approximately 10 members each. Their products are different from bakery, rice cracker, needle work and notebook sewing. The micro-business of these young women groups are still at their infant stage. The project plans to continue building their capacity especially in product development and marketing through entrepreneurship training and coaching by a micro-enterprise specialist.
Purpose: The main objective of the GE project is to conduct entrepreneurship training to the young women members of ten micro-business groups in the three districts of Chiang rai province and to provide one-on-one coaching on product development and marketing strategy to the ten micro-business groups.
