Introduction
SMRU is a field station of the faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, and is part of the Mahidol-Oxford REsearc Unit (MORU) supported by the Wellcome Trust (UK).

The main objective of SMRU is to provide quality health care to the marginalized populations living on both sides of the Thai-Myanmar border in the Mae Sot area, Tak Province. This is achieved by the dual activities of research and humanitarian services, with an emphasis on maternal-child health and infectious diseases.

Since 2009, SMRU is engaged also in Tuberculosis program with activities on active and passive case findings, diagnosis and treatment of TB patients with updated protocol and best quality of care in full cooperation with national programs and other stakeholders. Since 2016.

Responsibilities:

Under supervision of TB program Director, the TB program manager is an operational manager, part of the TB coordination team with TB doctors and counsellor supervisors.

­He/She will assist TB director in overall management of the TB program.

He/She is Responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the project on the ground. This post is required to address the needs of grant management and reporting requirements, this position will allow more efficient monitoring and supervision of the project and allow TB program Director to focus on strategic and technical Issues.

In charge of functional, and operational link between all support staff in administrative department and all field staff in the different units to supervise and monitor implementation of activities and expenditures according to work plan to get better efficiency of operational activity under work plan, following orientation and supervision of TB director.

Supervise field implementation of TB program Activities

• Organize close monitoring and supervision plan for implementation, and coordination of work plan with support team of SMRU
• Participate to coordination meeting
• Central role in ensuring good communication between support team, field activities and program director
• Support partnership with NTP, NAP at all level and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to elaborate operational strategy with TB program director and TB doctors

Liaise with Management and support team

• Link with purchase team and procurement to follow up field request and link with assistant grant manager
• Monitor logistics issues and support field request
• Evaluate need for training and human resources

Education

• Diploma in Public Health / post graduate educational.

Work Experience and skills

• Minimum 2 years of relevant scope of work.
• Previous experience in TB program and knowledge on TB will be valuable

• Communication, interpersonal and representation skills
• Capacity building skills, Organization and planning skills, reporting skills
• Ability to design protocols and SOP
• Microsoft office, good command of Word and Excel is required
• Mature, polite and a team player is essential.
• Project management
• Culturally sensitive with the ability to work with a multi or cross cultural team.

Languages and other

• English, Burmese and Karen language skills would be an asset
• Understanding of the situation along the Thailand-Myanmar border and in- side Myanmar.
