Job title: Program Manager Assistant (Logistic)
Location: Maesot with frequent field trips in program zones
Introduction
SMRU is a field station of the faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, and is part of the Mahidol-Oxford REsearc Unit (MORU) supported by the Wellcome Trust (UK).
The main objective of SMRU is to provide quality health care to the marginalized populations living on both sides of the Thai-Myanmar border in the Mae Sot area, Tak Province. This is achieved by the dual activities of research and humanitarian services, with an emphasis on maternal-child health and infectious diseases.
Malaria Elimination Task Force (METF) started in 2014 .The overall goal of the project is to decrease the prevalence of clinical and sub-clinical P. falciparum infections in a defined area and then to proceed with elimination of the parasite reservoirs (elimination activities). From a pilot held during 2 years in a selection of villages in Kayin State, a strategy has been developed, and is scaled up to 4 entire townships in Eastern Kayin State (Myawaddy, Hlaing Bwe, Hpapun and Kawkareik).

Responsibilities:
This position mainly focus in coordination for all logistics needs of the Malaria Elimination Task Force (METF), collaborating with existing SMRU structures such as Logistic manager, Pharmacy , METF staffs. This position is a member of the METF coordination team and participates to METF and other SMRU ad-hoc meetings.
The program has 1,220 malaria posts now and other activities. All these posts need to have an uninterrupted supply in essential items such as Malaria drug and Rapid Diagnosis Test and some other medicines and equipment.
These commodities are made available through several points (Mae Sot, Ko Ko, Mae Sariang), from where they are taken to the field.
Specific Task:
1. Supply
Ensures proper and constant supply of all activities of the program (malaria posts, surveys, mass drug administration) through coordination with all concerned (Program managers, Area logistics coordinators, all zone coordinators (27 + 20 Assistant coordinators) in order to set up with them a system of logistics communication, in order to be able to know at all times the stock levels and plan the needs.
2. Reporting system
Set up reporting system from the Zone level to the central level and ensures all concerned (zone coordinators) have the proper training to do so.
3. Training
Analyze program needs regarding logistic issues and organized training as needed
4. Vehicles
Manages activities of the Driver/ logistician and ensures the vehicles of the program in Karen state are up and ready at all times and properly driven/maintained.
