Organizational background

Building on Strategy 2020, the International Federation secretariat coordinates and supports the collective efforts of the International Federation membership to better address the increasing number of humanitarian challenges in the world.
The post of Senior Migration Officer will sit within the Country Cluster Support Team, Bangkok office, working directly with the Head of Country Cluster Support Team, the ROMIA Programme Management Coordinator and the AP Regional Migration Coordinator.
The Senior Migration Officer will be responsible for supporting NSs in implementing migration activities in the Mekong Region and in close coordination with the program coordinator in Geneva and the Regional Migration Coordinator in Kuala Lumpur.
The Senior Migration Officer will manage and ensure implementation of the “Civil Society Action for Promoting Human Rights of Migrants” project, funded by the Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation – EuropeAid (DG DEVCO) and implemented in 15 countries. Within this project, the Senior Migration Officer will be tasked with coordinating, managing and monitoring all activities of four partner Civil Society Organisations (CSO) within the Mekong Region (Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam Laos). The Senior Migration Officer will work closely with the Bangkok Country Cluster Support Team, the Asia Pacific Regional Office (APRO) and the Central Programme Unit based in Geneva.
The Overall objective of the global Rights of Migrants in Action project is to promote and protect the human rights of migrants in targeted countries, migration corridors and regions through a globally coordinated civil society action, with a specific focus on migrant domestic workers and victims of human trafficking.
This will be delivered through the following four components:
1: Foster a harmonised and coordinated approach to civil society organisations toward the protection of human rights of migrants, in particular regarding migrant domestic workers and victims of human trafficking.
2: Migrants’ access to social services of the targeted countries, and the provision of basic services is enhanced through small scale CSO projects.
3: Build and strengthen the capacities of civil society organisations to support the improvements of human rights of migrants, in particular regarding migrant domestic workers and victims of human trafficking.
4: Build and maintain an active and effective networking with key partners and stakeholders (including the RCRC AP Migration network)
The project complements the RC/RC Movement mission to reduce risks and improve the lives of vulnerable migrants throughout their journey and is in accordance with the IFRC Policy on Migration principle 4: “Recognizing the Right of Migrants” and principle 5 : “Linking Assistance, Protection and Humanitarian Advocacy for Migrants”.
Job purpose:
The Senior Migration Officer will lead the overall project coordination and be responsible for the adequate completion of the Programme. The post holder will manage the delivery of all created activities at country and sub-regional level, – implementation, coaching, representation, technical guidance and day-to-day supervision of projects. He / She will ensure transparent and consistent coordination between IFRC Offices, RCRC National Societies, EU office and other stakeholders.
Job duties and responsibilities
The post holder, under the supervision of the Bangkok HoCCST and working closely with the Regional Migration Coordinator, IFRC Country offices, as well as with the Central Programme Unit in Geneva, will be responsible for the following duties:

Project implementation
Relationship with partners
Communication
Reporting, monitoring and evaluation
project documents;
Research and training
Regularly update a mapping of CSOs working in migration in the region and relevant and similar existing and/or planned projects and initiatives at regional and country level.
Area of Focus: Migration
Undertake any other tasks as required by the Head of Country Cluster Support Team
