Job title:  Assistant Administrator

Location:  TB clinics

Probation: SMRU can terminate employment at 3 months if performance inadequate.

 

Introduction
The Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) is a field station attached to the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. It is part of the Mahidol Oxford Research Unit (MORU) which is a collaborative effort between Mahidol and Oxford Universities, and is part-funded by a UK charity, the Wellcome Trust. SMRU’s aims are to i) treat and care for patients with malaria, ii) undertake research into malaria in this area in order to determine the best methods of prevention and treatment, and iii) to advise on the treatment and the control of malaria in the South East Asia region and more widely.

Since 2009, SMRU is engaged also in Tuberculosis program with activities on active and passive case findings, diagnosis and treatment of TB patients with updated protocol and best quality of care in full cooperation with national programs and other stakeholders

 

The post holder work based at SMRU TB clinics

 

Responsible to: Head of Administration

 

Responsible for: The Assistant Administrator is responsible for overall administrative tasks under the job descriptions and instructions of the Unit Director.

 

Tasks      

  • Supervise TB sites overall administrative work and report to Head of Admin.
  • Supervise and follow up all logistics need require by TB clinics on sites.
  • Supervise drug order and stock and all medical material at TB clinics
  • Provide general help and advice to staff in relation to personnel management issues.
  • Relate with local partners to strengthening mutual or multi lateral coordination and collaboration.
  • Assist in study project regarding administration and logistics issue.
  • Liaise with Mae Sot SMRU office regarding paper work and other official requirement issue
  • Provide the SMRU Head of Administration with information on expenditure and other logistic need that require by site staff
  • Support field staff with logistic need and organize the meeting, reporting the meeting minute.
  • Daily Inspecting clinic tidiness including electricity and water consumptions, building needs, staff house and organization site deep cleaning once a month.  Site deep clean include:
  • Wards/departments
  • Clinic surrounding
  • All and Staff houses and surrounding
  • Working closely with management team
    • Perform other duties as specified by the Head of Admin.
    • Report to Program Director

Essential Criteria

  • Good spoken and written English , Burmese and/or Karen
  • Experience in administration work with minimum 3 years relevant experience
  • Experience or willing to work in cross culture management environment.
  • Strong diplomatic skills and the ability to communicate with sensitivity to a variety of people

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of managing multi culture staff
  • Experience in logistics.
  • Knowledgeable of local and national politics and local history.
