Position title:                Project Officer (for Tiger Recovery Team) (open to Thai National only), WWF Thailand

Directly reports to:        Project Manager

 

Validity:                        December 1 2016 – November 30, 2017

Location:                       Bangkok, Nakhornsawan, and Kamphaeng Phet

 

MAJOR FUNCTION

The Project Officer provides support to the Project Manager in term of SMART database-maintain, research field work, technical training and workshop, outreach activity and awareness raising, media production/material for wildlife conservation and development of presentation/technical report/proposal on results of project as well as others relevant.

 

Major Responsibilities

A.       Project Implementation

 

·            Assist in the maintain and implementation of the patrol database via SMART Program

·            Assist in implementation the patrol data for park management in term of patrolling and natural resources protecting

·            Assist in the development and implementation of the project’s research and survey, technical training and workshop, and outreach and conservation awareness raising components

 

·            Assist in the design and implementation of project surveys and studies when required and secure participation of community stakeholders in project relevant surveys or studies

 

·            Frequently travel to existing projects areas

 

·            Perform administrative tasks such as support logistics (e.g. procurement of field equipments, visits, travels, etc.) for the project, provide translation and interpretation when required, set-up project filling system to be applied and followed by all project staff

 

·            Develop and maintain database of all technical reports, presentation, maps, data and information, pictures produced by the project as well as list of organisations and companies working in related fields, related products, etc.

 

·            Work with other awareness projects and environmental NGOs in the project areas when required

 

·            Maintain an awareness of staff comments and any complaints to identify any areas that may need development of improvement

 

B.       Partnership Development and Networking

 

·            Establish relations and keep regular contact with key partners (multi-sectoral, government and non-government) at local, national and regional levels (for implementation and networking/lessons sharing

 

·            Meet with Government counterparts, establish and convene regular meetings of the project steering committee when required

 

·            Ensure good and close liaison in collaboration with project network, stakeholders and other WWF projects

 

·            Develop and maintain effective contacts with a wide range of external contacts with organisations and individuals who can assist in the conservation activities

 

C.       Communications

 

·            Provide support to the development of press release/conference on results of project

 

·            Provide inputs to communications products, materials, and campaigns to ensure accurate information of the project when required

 

D.       People Management

 

·            Work with the Project Manager and counterpart on the capacity building of key counterparts

 

E.        Monitoring and Evaluation, Reporting

 

·            Assist in the preparation of six-monthly progress reports to monitor all technical, financial and administrative aspects on the utilisation and impact of all resources made available to the project

 

·            Disseminate the technical report among the public sector institutions and regulatory bodies

 

 

WORKING RELATIONS 

  1. Internal

Work in close collaboration with project staff, and other focal persons of the project. Engage and support WWF Thailand staff

 

 

  1. External

Liaise and work with Government agencies, donors, communities, partners, private sectors, consultants and international and local NGOs

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education and Qualification
  • Male, Bachelor’s degree in conservation, forestry, natural resource management, or in relevant fields
  1. Knowledge
  • Knowledge of conservation and natural resource management issues in Thailand, especially in wildlife ecology
  • Knowledge of the realities of government agencies, development partners, donor institutions, and the not-for-profit sector in the project
  • Knowledge of WWF structure, priorities and procedures as well as WWF's ecoregional approach to conservation
  1. Experience
  • Experience in conducting studies and coordinating research activities
  • Experience of working with government officials, local communities and/or donors at all levels
  • Familiarity with the project area and local residence will be an asset
