MALARIA  CONSULTANT (Cost benefit analysis)

 

Organization:    RTI International

 Time frame:      Up to 30 days starting immediately through end of November, 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Background

Our staff of more than 3,700 provides research and technical services to governments and businesses in more than 75 countries in the areas of health and pharmaceuticals, education and training, surveys and statistics, advanced technology, international development, economic and social policy, energy and the environment, and laboratory testing and chemical analysis.

 

RTI International through the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Inform Asia: USAID’s Health Research Program, has received funding to provide technical assistance to a range of local stakeholders in the areas of knowledge management and capacity building with regard to strengthening the Thai national program in malaria. Specifically, the consultant will be working on data collection and desk review for a national Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA). The proposed consultant will lead in data collection and the review of technical materials while coordinating support with the Bureau of Vector Born Diseases (BVBD) to conduct activities related to operational research, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E).

 

Consultancy Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide project support and oversight of data collection and research activities. Specific tasks to include, but not limited to, the following:
    • Facilitate liaison and communication with key stakeholders;
    • Data collection of national malaria program data;
    • Logistics and technical support to ensure implementation of data collections;
    • Problem solving with regard to ensuring work plan activities are implemented as intended; and
    • Drafting of progress reports (as needed).

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree and/or equivalent experience in public health, medicine, research, and/or other related fields.
  • Working knowledge of the Thai public health system and preferably, the national malaria program.
  • Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multi-cultural environment.
  • Exceptional Thai written skills, oral communication and presentation skills. English language capacity is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, responsively, and collaboratively with academic/research institutions and government counterparts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications.
