Soi Dog Foundation is the largest animal welfare organisation in Asia dedicated to helping stray dogs and cats. Soi Dog Foundation sterilises, vaccinates, administers medical treatment, shelters, promotes adoption of stray dogs and cats in Thailand, and runs education programmes on animal welfare. JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title and Summary: The role of Adviser – Fundraising Communications is to work as part of the Fundraising team to optimise Soi Dog’s online presence on digital platforms through effective fundraising communication.Please note that as part of the selection process, short-listed candidates will be asked to undertake a copywriting exercise.
Key Responsibilities: The Adviser – Fundraising Communications will be responsible for the following functions:
- Writing and scheduling compelling fundraising appeals for Soi Dog Foundation’s digital channel
- Responding to replies to appeal mailings and donor newsletters
- Managing general email correspondence from donors and other stakeholders
- Answering all private messages on social media in a timely manner, providing sender with email addresses, web links, and other information as needed
- Monitoring comments on social media posts, responding to important questions and/or feedback as appropriate
- Re-sizing existing photography to fit correct dimensions for digital channels, and ensuring UTM parameters are used in links where relevant
- In collaboration with the rest of the team and under supervision of the Manager: Communications and Content, write content for posting on third party fundraising platforms (individual fundraisers)
- Provide coverage for e-mailing preparation (Mailchimp), with some general understanding and knowledge of HTML formats (Dreamweaver)
- Maintain close working relationship with the rest of the team and across teams to keep up to date with latest campaigns, media releases, etc.
- Assist the Fundraising Officer – Creative Services with photography and video projects as required
- Support the preparation of copy for newsletters, donor communications, website and landing pages as required
- Provide support to the Director of Fund Development with preparation of documentation and reports for various audiences
- Support the Donor Relations unit with high volume enquiries coming from outside by ensuring consistency of messaging, prompt service, and updating of regular information bank.
- Identify and develop new content opportunities (and ways to repurpose existing content), tools and features to engage the Foundation’s online audience, as well as staying abreast of new technologies, trends and strategies
- Provide leave coverage as required
Department and Supervisor: The Adviser – Fundraising Communications is a member of the Fundraising Team at Soi Dog Foundation, reporting to the Manager: Communications and Content.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Copywriting or creative writing experience Candidates without a writing background (whether creative writing as a hobby or copywriting as a profession) will not be considered. Please note that as part of the selection process, short-listed candidates will be asked to undertake a writing exercise.
- Native English speaker essential
- Some knowledge of the principles of fundraising writing would be a distinct advantage
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills
- High level of attention to detail and computer literacy
- Familiar with various social media platforms
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiar with Google Drive and Google Docs
- Experience with a content management system such as Drupal would be an advantage
- Experience with Mailchimp and Dreamweaver would be an advantage
- Project management, scheduling, and organisation skills
- A passion for animals and animal welfare
- Previous fundraising or non-profit experience would be an advantage
Location This position is based at the Soi Dog Foundation shelter in Mai Khao, Phuket, Thailand.
Type of Employment: This is a full time position.
