Save the Children International is looking for Education Project Officer
JOB TITLE:  Education Project Officer
TEAM/PROGRAMME:  Education Programme

LOCATION:  Based in Mae Sot, Tak,Thailand
Type of Contract: 12 months (with possible extension pending funding)

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3:  the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.

ROLE PURPOSE:
To support the implementation of the BEST project through provision of planning, technical input, monitoring, reporting and joint implementation of activities with partners.

SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Education Project Co-ordinator

Dimensions: Save the Children works in 9 refugee camps and implements national and regional Children on the Move programs in Thailand. The Thailand Programme Office includes approximately 60 staff.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
1.Project implementation

a.Carry out monitoring/observation of training in 9 refugee camps

b.Collect and provide relevant and accurate data related to education project implementation

c.Provide technical input on tools, systems and methods used in teacher training

d.Provide input for coordinator for project and organisational reports

e.Support the coordinator with annual planning, reporting and review processes

2.Partners

a.Collaborate with BEST partners and key stakeholders  in the areas of teacher training planning, materials development, delivery and reporting

b.Ensure standardised systems, tools and materials are used in camp teacher training programmes

c.Carry out monitoring and implementation follow up for Partners’ training activities

d.Provide support for additional training resource partners, as needed

3.Administrative

a.In collaboration with the team, develop quarterly financial planning and budget phasing

b.Ensure that cash advances are reconciled as per Save the Children’s policies and procedures

c.Support the coordinator to update and submit the Issue Log, Action Tracker and Project Action Tracker in a timely manner

d.Ensure that monthly work plans are developed and accompanying documents are submitted on time (TAR etc)

4.Internal support

a. Provide feedback and input for PDQ & MEAL

b. Input on the design of project proposals and funding priorities

c. Ensure that camp partners are prepared for visits by Save the Children staff from other offices

d. Support translation for non-Karen/Burmese speaking staff

e. Attend monthly team meeting

QUALIFICATIONS 
Essential:

- Thai Nationality

- Demonstrated high achievement, good team player, self – directed

- Proven ability to  work independently

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Demonstrated project co-ordination/management and facilitation skills

- Demonstrated good administrative skills

- At least 3 years professional working experience ideally in development, education management, human resource development or other related fields

- Ability and willingness to work in a remote area and travel domestically and internationally

- Bachelor degree in education or related field, e.g. social science, development education, human resources development

- Ability to speak and write Karen and/or Burmese languages

- Good command of English language

Desirable:

- Ability and experience in delivering education-focussed training or teacher training

- Experience in financial administration

- Master’s degree in education or related field

- Knowledge of education systems in Thailand, Myanmar, and refugee camps
