Background/IRC Summary: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces
Job Overview/Summary:
To achieve an effective and smooth logistics operation including transportation of staff or visitors and delivery of medical equipments, medicine and supplies, referral of camp patients, feeding activities for pregnancy, assistance to all programs staff when in camps as appropriate and ensure efficient driving and maintenance of IRC vehicle in compliance with IRC rules and regulations.
Major Responsibilities:
- To ensure efficient driving and maintenance of IRC vehicle in compliance with IRC rules and regulations
- To ensure good taking care of evacuated camp patient
- To ensure effective delivery of medical equipments supplies, medicine and other supplies to camps
- Pick-up staff and IRC visitors and drop them off to camps or their required destinations and ensure all of them return back to the MHS office or other required destination after working.
- Verify the types of materials being loaded on vehicle
- Keep vehicle clean and maintained at all times
- Perform appropriate maintenance and keep truck clean
- To prepare vehicle in good working condition on daily basis
- To prepare tools and equipments for emergency incidents
- To inspect schedule of travelling to camp as a planned by IRC program
- To load medical equipments, supplies and medicine on truck after checking with checklist
- To facilitate patient or relative to move up on truck with suggestion for convenience
- Perform other duties, as appropriate or requested by Supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Education: Post-ten standard/High School.
Work Experience: Experience working with refugees.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: At least 2 years experience in off road driving, high capability to use tools or equipments for facing accident, high know-how of vehicle maintenance.
Language Skills: Knowledge of written and spoken English, Karenni, Burmese, or Karen language used in the Karenni camps preferred
Certificates or Licenses: Diving License
Working Environment: The position is located at the IRC Field Office in Mae Hong Son.
