The ICRC regional delegation in Bangkok provides assistance to victims of violence and works with authorities in order to improve the conditions in detention facilities. It also endeavours to promote and to strengthen humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.
We are looking for a
Field Officer based in Chiang Mai
In this position, you will be expected to call upon your skills and your talent to foster and maintain relationships with a wide array of external contacts, local communities, Thai government, Myanmar ethnic groups and NGOs in view of strengthening the ICRC’s position in the northern border provinces and assist the organisation fulfil its objective.
Within this dynamic and international context, we are looking for a Field Officer in order to join our Chiang Mai team.
Your main responsibilities
Monitors humanitarian situation of Karen, Karenni and Mon States
Maintains networking with non-profit external partners and multi-ethnic groups along the Thai-Myanmar border and in Chiang Mai
Carries out standard verbal and written translations
Prepares situation analysis and submits report of meetings/field visits
Visits, interviews, and follow ups cases of weapon-wounded patients as needed
Handles administrative tasks relevant to the field assignments
Your education and experience
• Minimum 5 years for Secondary School or higher
• Good computer skill
• Minimum 2 year working experience in related fields
• Good coordination and communication skills
• Have valid driving license
Your profile
• Must be able to speak, read and write Karen, Burmese, English and Thai (all candidates will be tested in these languages at the time of interview)
• Good understanding of the political, geographical, social and cultural environment of Myanmar
• Good knowledge and/or interest of state actors in Myanmar and the Northern Thailand
• Flexible and willing to travel upcountry as assigned
• Experienced/Background in medical coordinating role would be a plus
