About the Role

The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) Services Co. Ltd. is seeking a highly experienced Senior Standard & Assurance Officer – Oversight, Audit Integrity & System Governance to strengthen the integrity, independence, and credibility of the SRP Assurance Program. 

This is a senior technical role within the Secretariat, responsible for independent oversight of Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs), audit quality control, traceability governance, and systemic risk monitoring across SRP’s certification and emerging assurance modules. 

 

The position requires a seasoned professional capable of exercising independent technical judgment, engaging with CAB senior management, identifying systemic risks, and contributing to enforcement and corrective actions where required. 

 

The role will work closely with the Standard & Assurance Manager and provide technical leadership within the Assurance function.

Key responsibilities

Oversight of Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs), Audit Quality, and SRP Assurance System Implementation (Primary Responsibility)

  • Identify, evaluate, and support the approval and onboarding of CABs in accordance with SRP Assurance Scheme requirements
  • Serve as resources to SRP’s approved Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) in carrying out agreed activities to strengthen the SRP Assurance Program
  • Lead implementation of SRP’s Oversight Program, including:
  • Desk reviews of audits
  • Witness audits
  • CAB performance evaluations
  • Follow-up on corrective actions
  • Monitor and evaluate CAB compliance with SRP Assurance Scheme requirements
  • Conduct independent technical reviews of audit reports and verification decisions 
  • Identify systemic risks within the assurance system and recommend mitigation measures
  • Engage directly with CAB senior management on compliance issues
  • Support escalation, suspension, or enforcement decisions when necessary
  • Develop annual CAB performance and integrity assessment reports
  • Train and calibrate oversight auditors to ensure consistent audit interpretation

Audit & Traceability Integrity Monitoring

  • Monitor audit activities through the Audit Management Platform
  • Oversee traceability data integrity through RiceTrace
  • Review volume reconciliation and transaction certificate processes
  • Detect anomalies, inconsistencies, and risk indicators within digital systems
  • Recommend corrective and preventive measures to mitigate traceability risk
  • Perform second-line review of assurance and traceability data to strengthen system integrity and internal controls 

Grievance & Integrity Mechanism

  • Manage grievance intake and documentation in accordance with SRP procedures
  • Support investigation processes related to assurance and CAB performance
  • Track corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain transparent documentation of integrity-related cases

Normative Document & Regulatory Alignment

  • Support the revision and maintenance of SRP Standard and Assurance Scheme documents
  • Ensure alignment of National Interpretation Guidelines with SRP normative documents
  • Coordinate technical position statements for consistent interpretation
  • Contribute to benchmarking exercises and regulatory alignment initiatives (e.g., EU regulatory developments)
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with ISEAL Codes of Good Practice
  • Reply to information requests from stakeholders on SRP normative documents

Reporting & System Improvement

  • Contribute to ISEAL annual reporting and improvement plans
  • Maintain documentation of internal quality assurance activities
  • Support continuous improvement of assurance tools and digital systems
  • Coordinate with Capacity Development unit to identify and address training needs of CABs and auditors

Emerging Assurance Modules

  • Support integration and assurance governance of S&A programs, e.g. Low-Carbon Assurance Module (L-CAM), Second-party assurance pilots, etc.
  • Develop procedures and internal controls for new assurance modules

 

Required qualifications and experience

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in agriculture, forestry, environmental science, sustainability, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in certification systems, auditing, or conformity assessment
  • Demonstrated experience with ISO 17065 or accreditation-based certification systems, Conducting or reviewing third-party audits, CAB management or oversight mechanisms
  • Strong understanding of sustainability standards and assurance governance
  • Experience in grievance handling or integrity investigations is an advantage
  • Familiarity with ISEAL Codes of Good Practice is an asset
  • Excellent analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal English proficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple high-risk processes simultaneously
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 20%)
  • Good leadership – to be able to effectively manage and communicate with staff at all levels of the organisation; mentoring competencies and experience are an advantage
  • Time management skills – to ensure deadlines are met
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Reporting and working arrangements: 

This position: 

  • Operates with delegated authority for technical review and oversight functions 

  • Provides technical guidance to other assurance staff where relevant 

  • Engages externally with CAB management and technical personnel 

  • Contributes to strategic assurance risk assessment within SRP 

The position reports to the Standard & Assurance Manager and works closely with the SRP Secretariat. The role is based at SRP’s global Secretariat in the Sathorn area, Bangkok, Thailand.
