Asylum Access Thailand – Community Outreach Coordinator

Asylum Access is an innovative nonprofit founded to make refugee rights a reality in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We help refugees assert their fundamental rights using four integrated tools: individualized legal counsel and/or representation, community legal empowerment, policy advocacy and strategic litigation. With offices in Ecuador, Panama, Thailand, Tanzania and Malaysia, we provide direct legal assistance reaching over 10,000 refugees per year.

Overall purpose of Community Outreach Coordinator:

To be responsible for the management of community outreach program of Asylum Access Access Thailand, including planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the community outreach program as approved by the Director.  The Community Outreach Coordinator reports to the Country Director and works closely with other staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities:

- Develop community outreach strategies to meet in empowering refugees goal

- Develop and implement programs and activities and ensure its quality

- Develop and strengthen curriculum and workshop design

- Manage proper database system and ensure up to date in recording

- Provide support to community groups

- Build and maintain good relationship with community groups

- Oversee the interpreter program

- Manage the interpreter program volunteers

- Ensure that interpreters skills and knowledge meet the need

- Monitor the quality of interpreter trainings and onsite work

- Access and administer interpreter performance reviews

- Develop strategic and implement the awareness raising program

- Develop and strengthen networking between AAT, other NGOs organization and individual working with urban refugees in Bangkok as well as with inter sectoral organizations

- Ensure smooth and accurate communication within network align with communication protocol

- Ensure the quality of the networking website

- Overall manage emergency response, budget and making decision with country director align with Emergency protocol

- Organize basic orientation and basic training for new staff, intern and volunteer

- Supervise staff, intern and volunteers work

- Ensure two-way communication with members including developing complaint mechanism for members and groups

- Collaborate with Legal Service, Policy and Operations team to ensure effective joint actions and activities

- Regular monitor and bi-annually evaluation all programs

- Develop and finalize the report for the program

Requirement:

- Bachelor’s degree in Social Development or related fields

- At least 5 years of experience in community outreach and coordination, especially in refugee aspects

- Experience  networking with other stakeholder and forge strong relationships

- Demonstrated understanding on refugee issues in national, regional and international level

- Must be able to work under stress of meeting deadlines and changing priorities

- Able to effectively English communication both verbally and in writing

- Other third language speaking such as Urdo or Somali a plus

- Thai public holidays and additional 20 days holiday per year. On rare occasions may need to work on a weekend day in urgent situations. As a rule Monday to Friday full time working hours.
