Background/IRC Summary:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Thailand country program was established in 1976 to assist refugees from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and currently assists refugees and migrants from Burma. IRC operates one of the largest and programmatically diverse humanitarian programs providing essential services to displaced populations in Thailand.
Assistance programs encompass health, education, institutional capacity building, gender-based violence prevention and response, water and sanitation, advocacy, protection and legal assistance.
Job Overview/Summary:
To achieve an effective and smooth logistics operation including delivery of medical equipments, medicine and supplies, referral of camp patients, feeding activities for pregnancy and assistance to all programs staff when in camps as appropriate.
Major Responsibilities:
- To ensure efficient driving and maintenance of IRC vehicle in compliance with IRC rules and regulations
- To ensure good taking care of evacuated camp patient
- To ensure effective delivery of medical equipments supplies and medicine to refugee
- To ensure quality assistance to conserve environmental condition
- To ensure appropriate coordination with camp staff for assistance of transportation as requested
- To ensure full safety of driving
- To ensure prompt service for refugee.
- To prepare vehicle in good working condition
- To prepare tools and equipments for emergency incidents
- To inspect schedule of travelling to camp as planned by IRC program
- To load medical equipments, supplies and medicine on truck after checking with checklist
- To facilitate patient or relative to move up on truck with suggestion for convenience
- To advise camp refugee to enhance or conserve environmental condition as well as sanitary advices
- To provide transportation as requested by camp refugee authority
- Perform other duties, as appropriate or requested by Supervisor.

Job Requirements:
Education
- Post-ten standard/ High School.
- Experience working with refugees
Work Experience and/or Demonstrated Abilities
- At least certificate of Primary education(M.3) with official driving license
- At least 3 years experience in off road driving
- High capability to use tools or equipments for facing accident
- High know-how of vehicle maintenance
Skills
- Durability to trouble situation
- Good decision making
- Good human relationship
- Stable emotion
- Work experience in refugee setting
- Knowledge of written and spoken English
Language (s.)
- Karenni, Burmese, or Karen language used in the Karenni camps preferred
Other
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Certificates or Licenses: Driving License
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The position is located at the IRC Field Office in Mae Hong Son.
