The ICRC Regional Delegation in Bangkok seeks to fill the following position:
Interpreter (Karen/Burmese/English/Thai), based in Chiang Mai
We are looking for a spirited team player with a can-do attitude to join our dynamic team.
The Interpreter/translator will work mainly with the health team and interpret between Karen, Burmese, Thai, and English as needed during meetings with beneficiaries, authorities, ethnic organisations. However, they will also be available to interpret for the Head of Sub Delegation and other departments if needed. They will also interpret during trainings. They will translate documents, trainings materials in the required language (Karen, Burmese, Thai, and English).
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interprets during interviews with Weapon Wounded (WW) patients from Karen/Burmese to Thai or English as required.
- Interprets during physiotherapy sessions and small trainings sessions for WW patients.
- Interprets for all departments during meetings with groups and interlocutors.
- Translates internal documents such as letters, reports, invitations.
- Translates training material such as curriculums, presentation slides, as needed.
- Assists with note taking during meetings and producing minutes of meetings as required.
- Assists with the translation of documents related to patients including their medical bills.
- Assists with compiling of reports and data management.
- Supports with the organisation of health-related trainings in terms of interpretation and administration.
- Supports in follow up calls to groups and families in relation to the treatment of weapon wounded patients.
- Supports the health team in managing patient database and processing of patient bills.
- Ensures strict adherence to medical confidentiality in relation to all information and data pertaining to paties
YOUR PROFILE:
- Excellent command of speaking, writing, reading in Karen, Burmese, Thai, and English
- University degree or other post-secondary degree an asset
- Computer proficiency including use of Excel
