                                        and SOM and protect vulnerable migrants and  

                                        victims of trafficking

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 

1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE: 

Founded in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is an intergovernmental organization within the UN system, committed to fostering humane and orderly migration. The IOM's approach to migrant vulnerability emphasizes the promotion and protection of human rights, ensuring necessary support and assistance for all migrants facing vulnerable situations. In doing so, IOM applies whole-of-government approach aside from the whole-of-society. It means, through its presence, IOM respond to request from the government and support their responsibilities as duty bearers to protect, respect, and fulfill the rights and fundamental freedoms of all migrants, without any discrimination. Under the ongoing projects on Enhancing the Capacity of Thailand to Combat Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants through Enhanced Border Management and upcoming project on Enhancing Safe and Regular Pathways in Thailand by Supporting the Roll Out of the Royal Thai Government's Five-Year Action Plan on Anti- Human Trafficking​, IOM aims to conduct gap analysis assessment of Thailand Migration Policies. 

 

2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • upport the project team and the Steering Committee of NRM (SC NRM) to organize coordination meetings at central and provincial level
  • Support the team in the implementation of awareness raising programmes to prevent TIP and SOM at provincial level. This includes assisting civil society organizations that partner with IOM to deliver community outreach and other types of activities related to the prevention of TIP and Smuggling of Migrant at grassroot levels
  • Participate in coordination meetings and consultative meetings with SC NRM as requested and draft minutes of meetings
  • Respond to general information requests and inquiries, including informal non-official translation of various documents, set up and maintain files/record.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by Project Manager

The payment will be provided in monthly basis amounting USD 1,975.24 per month with detail as follows:

    • July 2025
    • August 2025
    • September 2025
    • October 2025
    • November 2025
    • December 2025

     Performance indicators for the evaluation of results

    • Satisfactory completion of all tasks listed above
    • Timely submission of all key deliverables listed above
    • Adherence to IOM Brand Guidelines and other visibility requirements
    • Quality of final products

 

3. REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • High School diploma with at least four years of relevant professional experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Law, Political Science, International Relations or a related field with at least two years of experience

 

Experiences:

  • Experience in migration, counter trafficking and human rights issues in Thailand is an advantage
  • Significant practical experience and knowledge of working with diverse stakeholder groups, including with governmental partners and civil society organizations at central and provincial level
  • Work experience in border provinces of Thailand-Myanmar will be advantages

 

Skills:

  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, and flexibility;
  • Gender-sensitive, culture-sensitive, and able to work with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent language and communication skills in Thai and English.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Thai (oral and written) is required.

 Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable.

 Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighboring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighboring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
