Duration of contract

Not to exceed 111 total days, paid at daily rate

Compensation starts from 1,472 Baht/day

*note that several holidays fall within this period. The total working days shall not exceed (111 total days)

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a full-time, short-term contract position which requires approximately 16 weeks of living and working at the central training site in Don Chedi, Suphanburi Province. Transportation and lodging are provided. 

The Program Support Assistant works under the direction of the Programing and Training Staff to support the planning and preparation of Peace Corps’ Pre-Service technical training for Teacher Empowerment for Student Success (TESS) Volunteers. This includes daily support for a range of events for staff, trainees, and community members at the Pre-Service Training site. Liaises with schools and local government officials to ensure smooth running of the training program.

 This is a short-term contracted position which requires living and working full-time at the PST training site in Don Chedi, Suphanburi Province.  The PSA will be required to follow a five-day work week, with some activities in the evening, and on weekends and holidays.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Preparation and Planning

  • Completes in-person and online training required by Peace Corps.
  • Participates in all planning meetings and activities during the Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop.

Training Support and Program Administration

  • Works closely with TESS Program team, including the Training Specialist (PTS), and Training Assistant, to prepare for all technical training sessions, materials, and activities.
  • Liaises with local officials, schools, community leaders, and resource persons at the training site to ensure full cooperation and collaboration at training venues.
  • Assists PTS in communicating with Resource Volunteers, when needed.
  • Assists PTS to observe and provide feedback during practical teaching classes.
  • Prepares, prints, and delivers documents and other resources for sessions.
  • Prepares official correspondence, certificates for local community partners, and other documents, as needed.
  • Tracks Trainees’ assignments.
  • Helps document all training sessions; files session plans and materials/handouts.
  • Participates in weekly PST staff meetings.
  • Follows all reporting procedures and submits weekly and other regular reports to TM, adhering to deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety and Security

Immediately communicates Volunteer safety and security concerns to appropriate staff. Knowledgeable and supportive of Peace Corps safety and security policies and procedures. 

Per MS 270, all members of the Peace Corps staff must be familiar with the Emergency Action Plan and their responsibilities in the event of an emergency.

 

Occasional Money Handler/Holder

May be designated as an occasional money handler/holder (OMH) if assigned by the Director of Management and Operations.  As an OMH, may be requested to courier cash and/or purchase orders to various vendors who furnish supplies and/or services to Pre-Service Training/In-Service Training site(s), or other locations as directed by the Overseas Contracting Officer (OCO). May also be requested to courier cash to Peace Corps Trainees or Volunteers. The Contractor will not be functioning as a procurement or disbursing official but will only be acting as an intermediary between the Contracting or Disbursing Officer and the recipient. In the case of dealing with vendors, the Contractor will not exercise any procurement discretion concerning the supplies or services to be purchased or the cost limits of these purchases; these will be determined by the OCO. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with Thai education system preferred.
  • At least 1 years’ experience in office or program administration.
  • Native Thai speaker, currently residing in Thailand.
  • Good oral and written English communication.
  • Good coordination and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with a range of basic office equipment: computer, projector, printer.
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft office.
  • Team-player, well-organized, flexible, adaptable, reliable
