Community Development Assistant

The Spark Foundation is dedicated to promoting education and empowering communities through various initiatives. It focuses on providing access to quality training, educational opportunities, and supporting sustainable development. Through its programs and partnerships, the Spark Foundation aims to create positive change and opportunities for individuals and communities to thrive. The position will work directly with the Program Manager of the Spark Foundation. 

The Scope of Work for the Spark Foundation's community development project includes:

  1. Vocational and English Skills Development: Implementing programs to enhance vocational skills and English proficiency among local residents, empowering them with valuable expertise for employment opportunities.
  2. Tourism Development: Identifying and promoting tourism opportunities that align with the local culture and environment, aiming to boost economic growth and community well-being.
  3. Income Generating Opportunities: Providing training and resources to local residents to create sustainable income-generating initiatives, fostering self-reliance and economic independence.

This Scope of Work aims to drive holistic community development in by equipping residents with skills, resources, and opportunities for long-term prosperity and well-being.

Start Date:             Immediate

Hours:                     Paid as a Consultant

Hourly / Part Time – Approximately 20 hours per week with potential for growth.  Some weekend hours may be needed.

Location:                Pak Kret, Nonthaburi

 

DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE

Planning

  • Assist Project Manager in preparing detailed implementation plan and overall project management documentation.
  • Assist Project Manager in planning and implementing field activities to ensure the project’s sustainability.

Management and Operation

  • Provide back-office support for the project team. Coordinate logistics, administration, and financial procedures to ensure smooth activity implementation.
  • Maintain project database to ensure documentation, records and filing of activities/meetings of beneficiaries, project financial files and keep records up-to-date.
  • And, other duties as assigned.

Communication and Networking

  • Initiate and maintain strong communication among project beneficiaries and key stakeholders using face-to-face and online communication.
  • Engage in influencing meetings / events with government sector and non-government sectors.
  • Liaise and develop networks with NGOs, government agencies and universities for the purposes of information exchange, strategic operations and networking as assigned.
  • Establish and manage social media profiles to enhance online visibility.

Requirements

  1. Excellent proficiency in Thai and English.
  2. University degree in community development, tourism, hospitality, or other applicable degree.
  3. Newly graduated and those will little experience welcome to apply.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multicultural environments.
  5. Ability to attend meetings and travel in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi and throughout Thailand.
  6. Positive attitude, independent thinker, and willingness to take initiative to address challenges and support foundation objectives.
  7. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and project requirements.
  8. Desire to work with under privileged communities and build skills.

Desirables

  • Grant writing experience
  • Fundraising experience
