Job Title: Social Studies Secondary Teacher (2 Positions)

Location: Mae Sot, Tak Province, Thailand

Travel Requirements: Domestic

Length of Contract: Probationary period of 3 months, with a 9-months extension. Annual renewable contract thereafter depending on monitoring and evaluation

Benefits:

•           Starting salary of 10,000 THB, increasing post successful probationary period

Responsibilities

Job Specific:

•           Teach Social Studies as the main subject to students in grades 10-12

•           Provide instruction in additional subjects as needed by the learning center

•           Develop and submit comprehensive lesson plans for future reference

•           Participate in teacher training programs

•           Ensure a safe and productive classroom environment

•           Organize classroom supplies and handle expense reimbursements

•           Deliver personalized instruction to encourage interactive learning

•           Assess and document student progress

•           Grade homework, assignments, and tests, maintaining accurate records

•           Serve as a role model for students pursuing higher education

General:

•           Undertake additional duties as required

Position Requirements

Education:

•           Degree in teaching or relevant field from a university, or equivalent certification

•           Bachelor’s degree in teaching or a relevant field from a Thai university

•           GED qualification from high school

•           Experience with the GED exam

•           Graduation from a migrant learning center

Work Experience:

•           Teaching experience

•           Experience with school or learning center registration

•           Open to recent graduates

Skills/Knowledge/Aptitude:

•           Proficient in teaching methods for science and other subjects

•           Clear communication skills, both oral and written

•           Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

•           Strong organizational and leadership abilities

•           Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills

•           Basic Thai speaking skills

•           Knowledge of Burmese or Karen language considered advantageous

Motivation:

•           Genuine interest in improving the lives of border children

•           Passion for alternative education methods

•           Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

•           Demonstrated resourcefulness

•           Familiarity with the Thailand-Myanmar border context preferred

•           Special interest in supporting grassroots organizations
