The ICRC Regional Delegation in Bangkok seeks to fill the following position:
Regional Communication Centre Manager, based in Bangkok
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with a can-do attitude to join our dynamic team.
The Bangkok Regional Communication Centre (RCC) Manager heads a centre that provide strategic communication activities to support ICRC efforts to position itself and increase acceptance of its mission, objectives and activities in the Asia Pacific region. S/he oversees communication activities such as digital content, marketing, media relations and crisis communication preparedness. S/he ensures the delivery of high-quality corporate services, mainly of regional but occasionally of global importance.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define and implement the RCC's strategy and annual planning/budgeting, in line with ICRC regional and global operational priority, the new institutional and communication strategies and Asia Pacific Regional strategic framework.
- Manages the centre's overall activities according to a plan of action and a team of maximum five colleagues.
- Works closely with the Communication Head of Sector Com Asia Pacific based at ICRC headquarters in Geneva on regional com priorities and campaigns.
- Supports media relations work when needed.
- Supports RCC specialists in developing plans of actions in their respective areas of expertise.
- Works closely with the headquarters Mobilization, Movement and Partnership (MMP) Department (e.g. Stratcom, Xmedia and Linguistics & Publications teams), sharing information and coordinating objectives, plans of action and training programmes as relevant. Contributes to communication policies and guidelines drawn up by MMP and advises and supports delegations in the region in implementing them, making sure that they are understood and applied.
- Works closely with the heads of communication departments in delegations to promote the RCC's activities. Regularly evaluates the quality of the services provided and ensures that they match client needs.
- Visits delegations regularly and organizes regional meetings with Communication or Communication/Prevention Managers and communication staff.
- Ensures that the RCC provides specialist communication staff at client delegations with relevant training and coaching opportunities (e.g. individual digital coaching, crisis com, misinformation and operational communication, on-site support missions, regional workshops). At the delegations’ request, and based on assessments of regional needs, sees to it that the RCC also offers training to National Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies.
- In cooperation with RCC communication specialists, supports communication heads in delegations in recruiting and training specialized staff when applicable (e.g. crisis com, misinformation, digital and operational communication).
YOUR PROFILE:
- University degree in communication, journalism, international relations, political science or similar field.
- Fluent command of written and spoken English.
- Any additional languages an asset, e.g. Chinese or other Asian languages.
- Excellent computer knowledge. Familiarity with online and social media communication tools.
- At least 10 years' professional experience.
- Humanitarian experience, particularly at the ICRC or Movement partner is an asset.
- Confirmed experience in communication project management in the area of digital com, digital marketing, campaigns, strategic communication, media relations.
- Team management experience a must.
- Experience in managing a structure providing a range of services an asset.
- Knowledge of print and digital production processes
