Project Manager (Children and Youth)

Job Summary:

The Project Manager responsible for overseeing the successful completion of selected projects (and/or other projects) under the Children and Youth impact area, as assigned to them by the Program Director. They are responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects that align with the organization’s mission and goals.

The Project Manager works closely with the Program Director to ensure that project objectives are clearly defined and met, and that all activities are aligned with the organization's overall strategy. S/he must have excellent communication and leadership skills to manage project teams, stakeholders, and donors effectively.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Project Planning: Creating and managing project plans (including logical framework at proposal stage), timelines, and budgets, ensuring that all activities are aligned with the organization’s mission and goals. 
  • Team Management: Overseeing project teams and providing guidance, direction, and support to ensure successful project delivery. This includes managing staff, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and managing project risks, issues, and dependencies that may impact project timelines, budgets, or outcomes.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitoring project progress against goals and milestones, and evaluating project outcomes to ensure that they align with the organization’s objectives.
  • Reporting: Preparing and presenting regular project progress reports to the Program Director, stakeholders, and donors, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and beneficiaries, to ensure project success and sustainability.
  • Capacity Building: Building the capacity of project teams and local partners to ensure that they have the skills and resources needed to sustain project outcomes beyond the project lifecycle.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, economics, business administration, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a project management role
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies and performance reporting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High English proficiency (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with budget management
  • Linkages to private/public/non-government organization networks for children and youth preferred
