Position Title               :  Migration Health Nurse Assistant

Duty Station                :  Ratchaburi, Thailand

Classification              :  General Service (G-3, THB 49,198.25 per month)

Type of Appointment  :  One Year Fixed-Term Contract

Initial 12 months with possibility of extension

Estimated Start Date  :  As soon as possible

Closing Date               :  23 January 2024

 

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 

1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Thailand implements a range of national and regional projects aimed at addressing migration challenges and delivering increased protection and assistance to vulnerable migrants in partnership with government, civil society, and private sector counterparts.

Under the overall supervision of Chief Migration Health Officer (CMHO) and the direct supervision of the Senior Migration Health Nurse in Bangkok, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties.

 

2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist IOM nurse during health assessments;
  • Prepare daily documentation: master lists, medical forms and daily reports;
  • Assist IOM Nurse to collect medical history, measure vital signs, weigh, height, visual acuity and X-ray processing;
  • Assist physicians during physical examination, if required;
  • Assist IOM nurse to collect results or testing from external service providers;
  • Assist IOM nurse to administer vaccinations;
  • Assist IOM nurse to provide tuberculosis (TB) education and counselling to the TB patients and family members and provide treatment for tuberculosis under DOT and report to IOM Nurse, if required;
  • Assisting IOM laboratory in the collection of biological specimen from refugee (Blood, urine and sputum);
  • Following the essentials while performing specimen collection:
  1. Prior to specimen collection, to give a counselling to refugees or guardians in case of specimen collection is to be done in children.
  2. Safety awareness while collecting biological specimen.
  • Supervise collection of specimens, if requested;
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.

 

3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma with minimum three years of relevant working experience;
  • University degree from accredited academic institution with minimum one year of relevant working experience.

         Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization with a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

SKILLS

  • Computer literacy (MS Office suite - Word, Excel, Access) is required.

 

4. LANGUAGES

  • Fluency in Thai and English (oral and written) is required.
  • Working Knowledge of Burmese and Karen is an advantage.
