ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Associate will be responsible for providing program and administrative support to Internews' Earth Journalism Network (EJN) project in Southeast Asia, focusing on strengthening media reporting on the environmental and social impacts of infrastructure development in the region. 

LOGISTICS

Internews has offices in Bangkok, Thailand; Manila, the Philippines; and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This role may be based in any of the above offices. Candidates may have the opportunity to work partially remotely (in office 2-3 days per week, and from home 2-3 days per week).

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include: 

• Carry out administrative and operational tasks, in close coordination with the Project Manager. 
• Liaise with project implementation partners on financial and grant administration. 
• Coordinate with Internews' regional office and the finance team in Bangkok on administrative tasks to facilitate project implementation. 
• Facilitate coordination of project activities with Internews country offices and their projects in Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. 
• Facilitate coordination of the project's activities with activities of other Internews EJN Asia-Pacific projects. 
• Organize logistics, supplies, and procurement needs for planned activities. 
• Facilitate the processing of payments to grantees, vendors, and contractors in coordination with finance team members. 
• Facilitate communication with the project's participants and partners. 
• Support the judging and selection of journalists and other applicants for grant and fellowship opportunities by reviewing applications and interviewing applicants. 
• Assist in timely collection and documentation of data and information from partners and other relevant stakeholders for monitoring and evaluation, and for internal monthly updates as requested and in line with donor reporting requirements. 
• Maintain and update lists of grantees, fellows, and trainers including tracking their performance against expected deliverables and coordinating these lists with the project team. 
• Support logistics for travel and meetings as needed. 
• File documents and carry out other administrative tasks according to set project timelines. 
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

• Minimum two years of experience working in international development and/or media development in an administrative capacity, preferably in Southeast Asia. 
• Relevant university degree or equivalent lived/professional experience. 
• Knowledge of and experience with media in the region, preferably in environmental and social impact of infrastructure development. 
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in English. 
• Proven ability to set priorities and handle multiple ongoing assignments. 
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
• Proven ability to coordinate with different teams and stakeholders, as well as with senior management. 
• Experience in assisting with small grants management. 
• Ability to work well as a member of a team and work independently to complete tasks. 
• Flexibility to work outside of traditional business hours to coordinate travel with colleagues around the world. 
• Ability and willingness to travel within Southeast Asia. Travel is not expected to exceed 10% Level of Effort for this role. 

Preferred

• Fluency in one or more Southeast Asia regional language, preferred. 
• Experience in supporting social media campaigns, a plus.
