PRIVATE SECTOR ENGAGEMENT LEAD

Location: The location is flexible within any Asian country where OXFAM has presence and can establish an employment contract.

Candidates from South-East Asian countries and women professionals are encouraged to apply for this role.

Contract: Two years fixed term contract

One Oxfam Grade: C1

Salary and benefits: in line with Oxfam values and according to location

Candidates must have and be able to retain the legal right to work in the location of the role. We are not able to support the relocation of a candidate to take up the position in an Oxfam location.

Oxfam International Asia Regional Platform is looking for the Private Sector Engagement Lead who will be responsible to provide a strategic direction and coherence to the existing private sector programmatic and influencing work and lead in co-creating future private sector engagement vision in Asia in collaboration with country programmes including country programmes on the affiliation process, affiliates, multi country programmes, based on the critical analysis of existing work streams, assessment of opportunities and strengths of Oxfam. This will include design and implementation of activities related to private sector influencing- more specifically engagement for inclusive value chains, advocacy, and campaigning for inclusive and responsible business, promoting SMEs especially women led enterprises, capacity building of partners.

Who we’re looking for

The Private Sector Engagement Lead will be an experienced, dedicated, and highly motivated professional, with a strong commitment to Oxfam's values and beliefs with the following qualification and competencies:

  • Solid understanding of the functioning and role of private sector in achieving sustainable and inclusive development in Asia and globally.
  • Thorough knowledge of Asian private sector, value chains active in Asia and their role in reducing/ increasing poverty and inequality in Asia and the issues around business and human rights in Asia
  • A strong strategist - Proven ability and at least 5 years’ experience to develop and deliver private sector engagement strategy including relationship building, lobbying and public campaigning to influence private sector policies and practices
  • Relevant degree in development studies / international relations / business / commerce.
  • Ability to think and act strategically and understand the relationship between national and regional programmes and the global objectives of Oxfam
  • In-depth experience of leading or working with country teams and partners to enhance influencing capacity and impact
  • Proven knowledge of computerised systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a dispersed, multi-disciplined, multi-cultural team
  • Self-management including ability to prioritise own workload and work independently and commitment to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to remain calm, focused, and organised and to deliver results on time when under pressure and with rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Commitment to Oxfam’s overall aims and policies and experience of promoting gender equity and diversity and the interests of marginalized people in all aspects of Oxfam’s work.
  • Ability to travel within and across the countries in the region
  • Excellent written and spoken English
