The Resettlement Support Center Asia (RSC Asia), funded by the US State Department Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), assists persons throughout Asia seeking permanent resettlement in the United States. Responsible for a portfolio of 37 countries, RSC Asia: prepares refugee applications for the United States Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) using START (a State Department–managed data system that supports the arrival and resettlement of refugees through technology); provides information to resettlement agencies about arriving refugees and offers cultural orientation training to refugees bound for the United States. RSC Asia is based in Bangkok, Thailand, with a sub-office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Job Overview/Summary:
The driver is expected to provide safe, secure and timely driving services including transport of staff, program file boxes, equipment and supplies. The driver also assists staff when in camps as appropriate.
Major Responsibilities:
• Provide safe and efficient driving services, sound running and maintenance of IRC vehicle and their accessories in compliance with IRC Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and applicable rules and regulations.
• Understand and ensure best practices of staff evacuation in remote camps.
• Ensure vehicle is in good working condition and prepare tools and equipment for emergency incidents.
• Notify the Senior Transport and Site Maintenance Office of pending inspections, insurance renewal or any defects or problems.
• Maintain accurate log sheets of each assigned service vehicle on daily basis.
• Assist in camp maintenance and site survey for camp facilities on monthly basis.
• Assist staff in loading in/out supplies and preparing camp sites prior to daily program activities run.
• Inform Senior Transport and Site Maintenance officer in case of accident with the vehicle immediately.
• Follow the guidelines (available in the vehicle) when accident occurs.
• In case of any problem regarding vehicle, to inform by phone to Senior Transport and Site Maintenance officer promptly
• Be always in the vicinity of the vehicle in the camp and in the office.
• Ensure in end of the day the car is always filled up with fuel and particularly before the weekend.
• Perform other relevant duties as directed by supervisor.

Job Requirements:
Education: At least certificate of Secondary education (M.3).
Work Experience:
• At least three years of off-road driving experience required
• Professional driving experience preferred.
• At least one year experience in vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Experience in facilities maintenance is beneficial
• Previous work in a multi-cultural environment is advantageous
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Able to troubleshoot and repair common vehicle issues
• Maturity, positive attitude and experience working under pressure.
• Able to travel to remote border sites in Thailand.
Language Skills:
• Proficient verbal and written Thai language skills required.
• Functional English skills desired
• Working knowledge of Burmese, Karen, or Karenni is an advantage.
Certificates or Licenses: Official Thai driving license
Working Environment:
The position is located at the RSC Mae Sot field office and regular travel to all refugee camps in northern Thailand is expected.
