Advisor for Renewable Energy Transition
Thai-German Energy Dialog
Thailand has set itself ambitious climate targets with carbon neutrality and net zero by 2050 and 2065 respectively. To achieve the targets Thailand will have to transition from its fossil fuel-based energy system and economy to renewable energies in just a couple of decades.
In this context, the Thai Ministry of Energy (MoEn) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) have initiated a dialogue on energy transition in 2022 which goes along a significantly increased cooperation portfolio in the energy sector. Topics span from energy transition, incl. renewable energies and energy efficiency to green hydrogen market ramp up as well as private sector cooperation.
The Thai-German Energy Dialog supports the policy dialogue at government-level, facilitates technical exchange among experts, and promotes the exchange of best practices and supports business collaborations for mutual benefit in the fields of the energy transition.

RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS
- Technical and organizational support for implementing project activities and events.
- Advisory on the policy and regulatory framework to promote energy transition, in particular on measures to increase renewable energy (and energy efficiency).
- Research, analysis and summary of up-to-date information on Thailand’s energy sector development, policies and regulations.
- Facilitating experience exchange on energy topics between German experts and relevant stakeholders.
- Development of communication materials for the project such as preparing project factsheet, policy briefings and communication materials.
- Development of content in both Thai and English to promote project activities through communication channels (Webpage, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Regular contacts and dialogue with Thai and German partners (including translation and interpreting).
- Planning, coordination, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of project activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master and/or Bachelor university degree in an area related to the project’s topics, e.g. energy, energy efficiency, energy / facility management, process engineering and etc.
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience in energy area in particular with energy, renewable energy or public and private sector cooperation.
- Knowledge of Thai and international policies and best practices on renewable energy and overall energy transition. Knowledge of the German experiences a plus.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills. Efficient, accurate and high-quality delivery of all work-related output.
- High work ethics, reliability, personal integrity and motivation. The successful candidate must be able to handle multiple simultaneous assignments with competing priorities and fixed deadlines.
- Thai mother tongue and fluency in English (written and spoken). German language skills are plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills. Diplomatic communication and political sensitivity required due to work in a bilateral government cooperation project of high visibility.
Position forms part of an international “Networking Unit”, which will be coordinated by an international team leader, based at GIZ Headquarters.
This will be a fixed-term contract, starting as soon as possible and running until 31 December 2023.
Duty station
The position will be based in the project office in Bangkok at Sivatel Bangkok office (BTS Ploenchit), 53 Witthayu Rd, Lumphini, Pathum Wan.
