Purpose and Scope of Assignment

- Provide accurate, timely and professional interpretation, from Rohingya dialect/language to English, to UNHCR staff and/or official Government counterparts, as needed, in the course of Protection-related interviews, group discussions, meetings, Protection follow-ups and other related activities.

- Translate documents accurately and in a timely manner from Rohingya dialect/language to English and vice versa.

- Under the supervision of and with guidance from UNHCR Protection staff, to relay general information, provide counseling and/or awareness-raising sessions in Rohingya dialect/ language to individuals/groups concerned.

- Under the supervision of and with guidance from UNHCR Protection staff, to undertake follow-up interviews with Rohingya individuals/groups as may be needed.

- Under the supervision of and with guidance from UNHCR Protection/ Information Technology staff, to perform systematic data-entry in ProGres database, related clerical functions and generate corresponding computer-based reports (e.g. EXCEL) on data gathered and uploaded accordingly.

- Hold hotline in Rohingya Language and respond to emergency calls from persons of concern and overseas calls from family members of Rohingya persons.

- Perform other duties as required.

Qualification Requirements

- Completion of Secondary School. Training courses in protection related issues required.

- Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience.

- Fluency in Rohingya dialect/language.

- Fluency in English and working knowledge of another relevant UN language or local language.

- Knowledge of computer applications, Microsoft Office package (Word and Excel).

- Good writing and communication skills.

- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and respect diversity.

- Knowledge and/or previous experience of refugee context in Thailand is an asset
