LANDSCAPE APPROACH – Call for proposals
The Coop-owned company Reismuehle Nutrex (RMN) with funding from the Coop Sustainability Fund and in collaboration with the Swiss development organisation Helvetas is implementing a project to facilitate the development of sustainable organic and fairtrade Basmati and Jasmine rice value chains in India and Thailand from 2022 - 2025.
One of the core components of this project is to develop and later implement a Landscape Management Plan, through a well defined process that focuses on participatory methods involving all stakeholders.
The project is looking for a consultant (organisation or individual) who can design and conduct the landscape assessment and facilitate the process to develop a landscape management plan in Surin, in a participatory manner. Thereby the consultant shall apply a long-term time perspective and consider social, economic and environmental sustainability including but also beyond the current organic and fair rice value chain. Aspects such as the impact of and on climate change, loss of biodiversity, reduced water availability, soil fertility and migration shall be duly taken into account. Based on the landscape assessment further interventions are planned and acquired that a) mitigate the climatic and socio-economic risks of rice production in the regions, b) improve the livelihood of the population in the rice-growing regions, and c) create a further contribution to the promotion of resource efficiency and biodiversity beyond rice production.
These further interventions must involve the planning of cross-sectoral activities that simultaneously cover several objectives and create ecological and social added value by recognizing and promoting ecosystem services, taking into account the interests of different user groups, the financing planning, identification of implementation partners, and acquisition of additional funds for the implementation of the prioritized fields of action.
The duration for the development of the Landscape Management Plan is from October 2022 to June 2023.
Deadline for submission is 2 October 2022
