Project Manager, Mekong for The Future

Background:

WWF-Thailand is part of WWF-Greater Mekong which operates in 5 countries: Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam. The USAID Mekong for the Future Project has the goal of improving natural resource governance in the Greater Mekong through strengthening civil society's ability to engage in natural resource governance and improving their access to and understanding of environmental data from public and private actors. The project is implemented across the Greater Mekong Region, with country level elements being conducted in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and Viet Nam.

WWF is seeking a project manager at 100% level of effort to lead the project in Thailand.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for overall project management to achieve project’s goals and targets, ensure all activities are in compliance with the project document and WWF’s contractual obligations, and donor’s requirements. The project manager will take full responsibility for technical, financial and administrative aspects of the project. The project manager will also ensure close collaboration among (WWF) projects, partners, and relevant stakeholders, including other GMP offices implementing the USAID Mekong for the Future project.
 

  • In close liaison with USAID, RDMA, and GMP office ensure proper oversight of project activities and results;
  • Coordination of overall project activities;
  • Cost control and budget compliance;
  • Preparation and implementation of project meetings/workshops and preparation and updating of the operational plan; 
  • Support capacity assessments and development in policy advocacy for CSOs working in the natural resource management field;
  • Coordinate and support the target groups of CSOs and CBOs so that they work effectively on policy advocacy providing inputs to improving natural resource management policy in their respective areas of engagement;
  • Develop and facilitate networking among CBOs in Natural Resource Management; 
  • Coordinate consultancies, training and workshops on data, accessibility and transparency;
  • Coordinate project activities with national counterparts and Thai policy makers; 
  • Monitor deadlines and tangible achievements;
  • Contribute to project M&E to enable effective reporting and impact monitoring; 
  • Develop project-specific policies, procedures and work instructions;
  • Develop ToRs for consultants;
  • Report on activities according to donor requirements and M&E plan;
  • Collaborate closely with other relevant CSO capacity development projects including SIDA LtC, Lao-Thai Fishery Project, and Freshwater practice.
  • Support other work as required.

 

Required Qualifications:
 

  • Postgraduate degree (MSc. or Ph.D.) in development studies, natural resource management or related fields;
  • At least 5 years of working experience in national project management;
  • Strong working experience in capacity development and platform engagement for CSOs;
  • Strong inter-personal skills, good team player, communication and facilitation skills, inter-cultural management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and diplomatic skills with the ability to manage and interact at all levels of an international, multicultural and multilingual organization;
  • Good people management, coaching and capacity building/development skills; 
  • Familiarity with WWF’s Environmental Social Safeguard Framework (ESSF) or a similar framework is a plus;
  • Networking, coordination, and facilitation skills;
  • Fluent in English communication.
