Part-Time Interpreter/Research Assistant
Seeking a part-time Interpreter/Research Assistant to assist with fieldwork activities and interpretation on a PhD project. Project is entitled "The Implications of Legal Pluralism to Understanding Mining Conflicts: A Socio-Legal Study of Thailand’s Chatree Gold Mine" and is conducted under the Faculty of Political Science at Chulalongkorn University.
Primary duties include: (1) English to Thai and Thai to English interpretation during interviews and focus group discussions; (2) unofficial document translation (as needed for research); and (3) scheduling meetings.
Some travel is required, with fieldwork expected to occur in Bangkok and Phichit. All travel expenses will be covered by the Principal Researcher, including transportation, food, and accommodation. Flexible scheduling, but applicants must be available to work some weekends, as necessary.
The salary is THB 2,000/day.
Successful applicants will be expected to begin work as soon as possible, for a duration of approximately five months.
Qualifications
Thai native language speaker with English fluency.
Academic social science vocabulary in both Thai and English.
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law, or related field.
Applicants with previous interpretation experience strongly preferred.
