Disaster Risk Consultant and Report Writer

Rapid Asia is an independent social research consultancy based in Bangkok. We carry out social research and program evaluations across a number of thematic areas including migration, human rights, wildlife conservation, health, climate change, education etc. Our clients include donors, UN agencies and international aid and development organizations. Rapid Asia has carried out projects in over 30 countries across Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Middle-East and South/Central America. We take a regional approach to our work and have developed tools and indicators that can be used across borders.

Due to our continued growth and expanding workload, we are looking for consultants with expertise in disaster risk management and the capability to write analytical reports in English. Our clients often publish reports produced so needs to be of high quality. The work will be on a contract basis. As an expert on disaster risk management, you will be a key member of the project team, and you will be notified well in advance of upcoming projects. Type of report and report length will vary depending on the project, and it is expected that remuneration will be agreed based on workload. More than one candidate can be accepted as long as requirements are met.

Job Responsibilities:

• Desk research and compiling and contextualizing secondary data sources

• Provide technical input during the project inception phase

• Synthesize primary and secondary data

• Ability to work independently and with some level flexibility

• Report writing in English

Requirements:

• Proven track record in the area of disaster risk management

• Keen interest in social development work

• Strong work ethics and attention to detail

• Ability to deliver to strict deadlines

• Proven report writing experience of research reports involving analysis of data

• Native English speaker is considered an advantage

• Based in Bangkok is preferred but not required
