Contract: Two-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension, depending on funding

The role: The Finance Assistant will provide assistance on financial accounting management. The incumbent will report directly to the Head of Operations and will liaise with external service providers such as banks, consultants, and other relevant parties. Internally, he/she/they will interface with all colleagues in the office.

 

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Handle employee expense claims and activity expenses claims (e.g. ensure that support documents are completed and accurate)
  • Handle invoices from suppliers
  • Be the contact person for vendors regarding payment by checks, cash, bank deposit etc.
  • Prepare cash disbursement forms and process reimbursements to employees as well as payment to suppliers
  • Handle monthly accounting reports using Excel
  • Reconcile grants financial reports and supporting documents
  • Assist with end of year account closing and audit
  • Support on any additional tasks as required

 

Who you are: We are looking for a junior accountant to be a member of a strong and dynamic Operations team. Apart from being good with numbers, you are able to and interested in working in an international working environment. To succeed in this role, you have a positive attitude and are flexible and open to change. You are constructive and enjoy providing good support to your colleagues.

 

Required qualifications and experience

  • Degree in accounting, finance or other related field and 1-year experience in a similar role (or 3 years of experience in a similar role without a degree in accounting or finance)
  • Experience of bookkeeping practices and principles, i.e. knowledge of internal controls, general ledger, cash management and reconciliations
  • Experience of working in multiple foreign currencies and understanding of foreign exchange hedging
  • Knowledge of financial- and information technology systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Thai
  • Good organization- and prioritization skills

 

Desirable qualifications

  • Familiarity with development aid
  • Experience working in a research/non-profit organization
  • Experience working in an international environment
