Location:         CMB SE Asia Office in Bangkok, Thailand (Negotiable)

Overview:

The Equity Initiative (also known as Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity in Southeast Asia) is looking for a talented and creative individual within the EI Network to help build and develop our new and growing Equity Initiative Fellows network. This is a unique opportunity to be hands-on in the early stages of our efforts to develop a lifelong network of equity communities for our fellows with the aim of improving health equity in Southeast Asia and China. We aim to build a dynamic, supportive partnership with our Senior Fellows and other key stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and optimize opportunity to fulfill our mission “[to] inspire and equip young leaders as transformative agents for health equity through: (1) generating Fellows’ knowledge, competencies, and dedication; (2) building enabling equity communities in countries/region; and (3) increasing policies and programs to tackle health inequities” in the region.  The successful candidate will demonstrate creativity and the ability to develop, manage, and sustain relationships.

Responsibilities:

The EI Fellows Relations Manager works under the guidance and leadership of the CMB Regional Director/Equity Initiative Executive Director and the Program Director.  This management position will be responsible for all aspects of relationship management, primary communication, and activities directed towards the EI’s Senior Fellows. The role will be key to building and supporting EI Senior Fellows programming and fostering ongoing engagement with the wider Atlantic Fellows Programs (AFPs) network. This team member has the following responsibilities to be carried out in coordination with other members of the EI team:

1) Fellows Community

  • Fellows Information Management & Tracking – involved in the design and implementation of the fellow database system from nomination and application through fellowship induction year to on-going program operating lifetime.
  • EI Fellows Engagement Activities – plan and implement activities promoting cross-cohort community and continuous engagement of the Fellows beyond their induction year, including but not limited to:
    • Take the management lead of second-year fellowship projects, including management of mini-grants/awards
    • Contribute to the planning of Annual Forum activities
    • Plan and facilitate capacity building workshops
    • Coordinate in-country fellow-led groups for community building
  • Atlantic Fellows Related Activities – act as the lead liaison with the Atlantic Institute and other AFPs and to coordinate and implement activities for Senior Fellows to connect EI Fellows to the wider AFPs network.

 

2) Equity Communities beyond Fellows

  • Community Building Activities linked to EI Fellowship – contribute to the design and delivery of fellowship year program elements to ensure that community building is integrated into the planning and delivery of EI fellowship activities
  • In-country Equity Networks – work closely with the Executive Director and Program Director to strategize, plan and implement activities to build in-country equity networks in specific countries. The in-country stakeholders will include EI Fellows, National Committee members, EI network partners, and collaborators.
  • Regional Thematic Networks – Plan, coordinate, and manage thematic activities with EI Fellows throughout the region.

 

3) Public Communications & Networking

  • Website, Newsletter, and Social Media – provide updates and develop content pertaining to Senior Fellows and community building activities (such as network activities) and manage the interests and engagement of Senior Fellows on various social media platforms, in coordination with Communication staff

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent English proficiency
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 5 or more years of work experience in a relevant field
  • Experience in network management and project management
  • Quick learner, problem solver, highly motivated
  • Demonstrated track record of working effectively as a team member
  • Experience in website content development and social media is an advantage
  • Interest in health and development a plus
  • Knowledge/skill in a local language (ASEAN/China) is a plus

The Equity Initiative (EI) is a program under the China Medical Board (CMB) to nurture and facilitate the development of a new generation of health equity leaders in Asia. It has two objectives: to cultivate and nurture the next generation of leadership through its fellowship program, and to build a collaborative community for promoting health equity in the region.
