Assignment Remark: This assignment is part of the Talent Programme for Young Professionals with Disabilities. The programme seeks to: 1) enhance the employability and career prospects of young professionals with disabilities through work experience with UNDP offices; and 2) build a talent pipeline of qualified professionals with disabilities who can contribute to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at national and global levels.
Accessibility: UNDP Thailand Country Office is based on 12th Floor of the Secretariat Building of UN ESCAP. The building houses about 15 UN Agencies with the accessibility of mobility disabilities. Staff and visitors, who have mobility disabilities, can access the building without any issue. Moreover, persons with diverse special needs, whether visual physical, brain lesions, hearing or speech impairments, also have access to a set of assistive devices, which are available upon request, in a designated area at the Accessibility Centre, at the United Nations Conference Centre, which is located in the same compound and connected to the Secretariat Building.

Description of tasks:
Under the overall guidance of the UNDP Resident Representative and direct matrix supervision of the Team Leaders for a) Democratic Governance and Social Advocacy and b) Climate Change and Environment, the Programme Associate will provide support to the policy advocacy work, programmes and projects being implemented as well as UNDP’s communication work to ensure that awareness on the SDGs are raised and UNDP interventions are aligned to the achievement of the SDGs, in particular with a leave no one behind lens. Specifically, on support towards Programme design and implementation, the Programme Associate will be a member of the CO Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Committee and support related research efforts and expected to work closely with the team and partners on the following key initiatives:

Results/Expected Outputs:
The expected result from this assignment is to better align the design, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation work of UNDP in Thailand with the SDG framework and 2030 agenda and support integrated approaches to UNDP’s support with regard to research, policy advocacy, technical assistance and projects design, implementation and reporting.
Qualifications/Requirements
Remark: To be eligible to apply to the Talent Programme for Young Professionals with Disabilities, candidates should be living with a disability. Work experience will be an advantage but not a requirement.
Qualifications:
Language skills: English (Mandatory), Level – Fluent.
Conditions of Service:
The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.
The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. The average monthly Volunteer Living Allowance, as of July 2020, for a National UN Volunteer Specialist, with Bangkok as duty station, is THB 47,000 per month (subject to change based on an exchange rate)
Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents).
Travel to duty station (if applicable) and a Settling-ln-Grant will be provided in the event the duty station is not within commuting distance from the place of recruitment.
