Cashier and Finance Officer – (Based in Chiangmai)

 

Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization based in Bangkok & Chiang Mai. BDF supports access to essential services for more than 1,500 vulnerable children and their families living in construction sites and slums. Through specifically tailored educational programs and flexible individual support, Baan Dek Foundation protects endangered children, enables families to become self-sustainable and provides opportunities for a better future.

Type of Contract:

Full-time position, 1-year paid contract (possibility of extension)

Responsibilities of the advertised position:

BDF is seeking a new staff member to help improve our foundation operations in administration and Human Resources. The position will work under direct supervision of the Finance Coordinator. The main responsibilities of this role will include the following

Role and responsibilities include - but are not restricted to:

  1. Cashier
    1. Support the Finance Department by handling the Foundation's petty cash. This includes the disbursement of advances and reimbursements of cash to staff
    2. Maintain that formal cash disbursal requirements are fulfilled as defined in the financial policies
    3. Handling the Foundation's incoming cash donations
    4. Ensure the receipt and financial practices are aligned to Thai Law and transparent ethical standards
    5. Support in preparing tax and social security documents and procedures
    6. Participating in the cash count during the monthly account closure
    7. Accompany the withdrawals and deposits of cash to the bank.
    8. Accurately record all expenses into the petty cash register
    9. Maintain the accounts for all payments made in the Chiang Mai office and liaising with staff and suppliers as necessary
  2. Support of Reporting and Budgeting
    1. Support of the Finance Department to prepare financial budgets for proposals to donors
    2. Support of the Finance Department to prepare financial reports for donors and internal use
    3. To work with the relevant staff to produce project budgets and forecasts as required
  3. Support Administration and Human Resources:
    1. Support the Director of HR and Public Relations and work with Admin team, team in the development of requested communication, financial, activities, etc.
    2. Provide support in general administrative processes related to HR, organization status and legal requirements (assistance in respect of administrative and legal procedures required in Thailand)
    3. Facilitation of communication between the local team, the beneficiaries, the external stakeholders (reporting to local partners, schools, governmental organizations, foundations, etc.), and the management team.
    4. Support in organizing the documentation and information related to the activity of the Foundation
  4. Support implementation of local programs developed by Baan Dek Foundation:
    1. Whenever relevant, run educational activities with children designed to support mostly migrant communities working on construction sites

Qualifications:

Nationality:  Thai (or any legal resident of ThailandWe are unable to provide a visa and work permit for this position).

Language: Native Thai, fluent spoken and written English

 

Education / Experience: Experience related to accountancy or finance

  • Degree (Bachelor degree or equivalent) in a relevant academic field is a strong requirement
  • Experience of maintaining finance systems and procedures
  • Skill in cash management (cashiering and cash transaction) including cash, disbursement and cheque payments
  • knowledge of current international accounting, procedures, standards and financial issues considered as an asset
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate accounting records, financial statements and budgets considered as an asset

Working hours:  Full time - Monday to Friday with occasional weekend + evenings

Salary & Compensation: Starting at 20,000 THB (to be defined based on experience and qualifications).
