We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the part-time consultancy: Senior Technical Specialist, Education and Training, Better Health Programme (BHP) Thailand. The position will be based in Bangkok, Thailand.

 

Position Description:

The Better Health Programme (BHP) Thailand is a 3.5-year programme funded by the UK Government’s Prosperity Fund and aims to reduce non-communicable disease (NCD) burden in Thailand by improving access to safe, quality care using equitable, ethical and sustainable approaches. The programme will accomplish this through the implementation of a set of activities in the following areas: 1) Strategies to Counter NCDs; 2) Education and Training; and 3) Provider Performance Improvement.

The Senior Technical Specialist, Education and Training will work under supervision of the Country Technical Lead (CTL) to lead continuing professional development initiatives for health professionals in Thailand.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Asia Pacific Network on Health Professional Education Reform (ANHER) and relevant stakeholders including but not limited to the National Health Professional Education Foundation (NHPE) and professional councils to improve provider capacity to address NCDs in Thailand;
  • Support ANHER and relevant stakeholders in updating and implementing high-quality continuing professional development (CPD) programming for physicians and nurses in Thailand;
  • Facilitate cross-learning between UK, international and Thai experts to strengthen collaboration and improve CPD programmes in Thailand;
  • Support ANHER in piloting an updated CPD programme for physicians and nurses in selected settings in Thailand and applying learnings to finalize programme content, structure and delivery mechanisms as well as facilitate cross-country/regional/global sharing/learning through ANHER network and other regional and global networks/platforms when possible;
  • Contribute to the establishment of a health professional e-journal and building the capacity of health professionals to conduct and publish research; and
  • Provide ongoing technical support to ANHER for its CPD programmes.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Medical degree or at least Master’s degree or equivalent in Health Sciences, Health Systems Strengthening, Development Studies, Development Management, or related field;
  • Minimum eight (8) years of relevant experience in health systems strengthening, including experience in research, health/medical education and training programmes and CPD for health professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and experience working with stakeholders including government departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing; and
  • Fluent in written and oral Thai.
