Position Title               :  Operations Clerk, VolRep

Duty Station                :  Mae Sot, Thailand

Classification:                 General Service Staff (G3,THB 49,198.25 per month)

Type of Appointment  :   One Year Fixed-Term Contract,

12 months with possibility of extension

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 

  1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:

 

Under the overall supervision of the Head of sub-office in Mae Sot, and under the direct supervision of the VolRep Team Leader in Mae Sot, the incumbent will provide daily clerical and administrative support to the Voluntary Repatriation (VolRep) project.

 

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Particularly, he/she will carry out the following duties:

 

  • Assist in providing administrative support related to the maintenance of VRC centers in the respective camps to ensure that they are always in good condition.

 

  • Provide clerical support in making transportation bookings for the VolRep movement using the IOM service provider.

 

  • Provide clerical support in the implementation of the VolRep activity such as documentation, preparation of cash grants, sending notification after refugee’s departure, etc.

 

  • Provide administrative assistance in the distribution of cash grant assistance in the camp to the refugee before departure, including to keep records of all payments made.

 

  • Assist in preparing and submitting the relevant documents to the Finance unit so that the Finance staff can make payment of wage to the camp-based team (security guard, interpreter, and runner/cleaner) on time.

 

  • Provide administrative assistance in keeping the record of the NFI items maintained by IOM related to the VolRep project and the items distributed to the refugees. Verify that the information is up to date.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

  1. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Completed secondary [high school] education required.
  • Three years of relevant working experience with secondary [high school] education; one year of relevant working experience with bachelor’s degree.
  • Prior Movement Operations, transportation-related and/or Voluntary Return experience a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and Internet; past experience with Movement Operations-related databases and systems (including MiMOSA) is a distinct advantage.

 

  1. LANGUAGES

 

Thorough knowledge of English. Working knowledge of Thai an advantage.
