The Borderland Health Foundation (BHF) is a non-for-profit, non-confessional and non-political organization, registered in Thailand. The BHF is linked to field stations of the Mahidol - Oxford University Research Unit ( SMRU Clinics ) which located at Mae Sod, Mae Ramard, Pob Prah, Tha Song Yang and Umpang district in Tak province, Thailand. The BHF works with marginalized populations along the Thailand-Myanmar border on Health care services and Public health related issues and the main areas of work are malaria, tuberculosis and maternal & child health.
Position Summary
The Borderland Health Foundation will work in partnership with SMRU on a grant from the Global Fund through Unops for coordination and follow up with partners; TAK Public Health Department (TAK PHO), Young Muslim Association Thailand (YMAT), Phu sing Hospital (PHSH) and Mae Tow Clinic. The M&E Trainer and Supervisor works under the supervision of the BHF Manager and in liaison with SMRU Heads of departments and directors. The M&E Trainer and Supervisor is responsible for monitoring all activities linked to this grant and providing general administration/logistical support. S/he will also assist the BHF manager to ensure that the activities of this grant run efficiently.
Responsibility
- Manage and facilitate flow of essential information with partners (YMAT, MTC, TAK PHO, PHSH) and provide essential support for successful project management.
- Visits project locations to oversee activities, events and collects information to report on performance outcomes.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation of project activities according to partner’s plans including follow up requested program indicators to ensure reporting made in due time, according to requirements.
- Liaison with SMRU financial department (Grant, accounting, etc.) as needed
- To assist BHF Manager in administrative and logistic arrangements for this project activities
- Planning and organizing conferences, workshops, meetings, and training activities under the project and work closely with BHF Account Assistant to prepare payments and related issues
- Assist BHF Manager in monitoring program and project budgets to ensure the expenses comply with SMRU SOP and project donor guidelines
- Prepare reports as requested by SMRU Chief Operating Officer and BHF manager
- Be translators and support in translation of documents from English to Thai and Thai to English
- Support SMRU department heads as requested to be liaison with Thai Government officer in discussion and translator
- Perform other tasks as required
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential
- Bachelor degree in Social science or business management or related fields;
- Minimum 3 years working experience in a similar capacity, preferably for a non-profit organization
- Excellent working knowledge of English and Thai, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with very good skills for MS Excel
- Excellent planning and organizing skills
- A confident personality that shows initiative; is able to take on and solve problems quickly and efficiently with ability to work under pressure.
- Interpersonal communication skills, individually and in-groups, with an ability to work as an active member of teams. This implies flexibility and open-mindedness.
Desirable
- Experience with various donors’ procedure
- Ability to work in a variety of cultural and institutional contexts.
- Understanding of humanitarian work and sharing the humanitarian values of the organization
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision
Probation: 3 months, after which employment will be confirmed or terminated. The position is offered under a fixed term contract subject to the grant funding (currently two years to the end of 2020) and may be terminated at that point or renewed subject to further funding.
