Job Title : Digital Profiles Project Assistant

Location : Mae Sot

Background/IRC Summary:  The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces

Job Overview/Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Health Information System Officer, the Digital Profiles Project Assistant will support the overall coordination and implementation of the IRC’s Digital Profiles Project in Mae La Temporary Shelter. The project provides the IRC’s health program beneficiaries with unique digital health records that enable health program staff to accurately and securely track each individual’s treatment plans. The records will also enable beneficiaries to have ownership over their health data for future use.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Support the day-to-day implementation of all Digital Profiles Project activities in Mae La Temporary Shelter
  2. Assist in conducting monitoring of data collection and profile enrollments, recording and reporting any issues encountered (including reasons why beneficiaries decline to enroll, if any) on a weekly basis to the Digital Profiles Project Officer for further action
  3. Assist in conducting monthly assessments on the quality and functionality of all project equipment and tools
  4. Support in coordinating with and between other health program departments, including Reproductive Health and Community Health, as well as other IRC sectors, including Livelihoods and Protection, to achieve maximum project reach to the target population groups
  5. Work with other relevant team members through daily coordination and formal weekly meetings and subsequent follow-up action points
  1. When assigned, prepare project information and communication materials to be reviewed and approved, including taking voluntary statements from temporary shelter residents
  2. Assist in translating documents and information/communication and training materials from English to Burmese/Karen and vice versa as needed
  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Internal: Senior Health Coordinator, Health Coordinator, Senior Clinical Managers (PHC, RCH), Laboratory Technical Officer, Community Health Supervisor, Psychosocial Manager, and Nurses; Livelihoods team; Protection team

External: N/A 

 

Job Requirements:

Education:

Demonstrated knowledge in social science or other relevant fields

Work Experience:

Entry level – no experience necessary, but must be willing and eager to learn

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Computer, database and data analysis skills
  • Ability to write in English and effectively convey information
  • Ability to write in Burmese and/or Karen a plus
  • Computer literate in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work to regular deadlines and adapt to changing situations
  • Ability to work well in a team and with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds and walks of life
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience in non-governmental organizations and migrant/refugee contexts preferred

Language Skills:

  • Fluency or near-fluency in English and Burmese and/or Karen
  • Thai language skills are an added advantage

Working Environment: The position will be based in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, with frequent travel to Mae La Temporary Shelter in Tak.
