Who we are

Founded in 2017, Manushya Foundation is an Asia regional non-governmental organisation aimed at empowering communities to advance human rights, social justice & peace.

VISION

We believe in the infinite positive power of humans in building inclusive, just, equal, sustainable and peaceful societies in Asia, where individuals, communities, governments and non- state actors respect, fulfil and advance the enjoyment of universal and indivisible human rights for All, leaving no one behind.

MISSION

We connect diverse and inclusive communities of humans across Asia through coalition building to ensure that they are at the centre of the human rights and sustainable development responses of their countries. By building capacities on human rights monitoring mechanisms, sharing experiences, developing innovative strategies and strengthening solidarity, Manushya Foundation empowers communities to advance human rights, social justice and peace.

Manushya Foundation serves as a “BRIDGE” to Engage, Mobilise, and Empower communities as their own Agents of Change through a three-pillar strategy:

  1. We ENGAGE communities by building their capacities on all UN human rights monitoring mechanisms to enable them to participate effectively. We provide communities with tools to efficiently build credible evidence, to investigate, monitor and document the human rights situation on the ground to hold their government accountable on their human rights obligations.
  2. We MOBILISE communities around human rights movements through CSOs coalitions created to achieve equality and to build solidarity and cooperation within and among communities. Energised as one strong unified voice, communities are visible, heard and credible.
  3. We EMPOWER communities by placing them at the centre of human rights and sustainable development responses in their countries, engaging constructively and providing solutions to their governments to address concerns, gaps and needs and ultimately advance human rights. By adopting a bottom-up approach, communities own their issues and become the agents of change. Strengthened, communities can effectively bring back solutions at the local level to further empower their peers, ensuring no one is left behind.

The Manushya Foundation is a small NGO with the associated advantages and constraints. Every staff member plays an important role and carries responsibilities. Dedication of each staff member is thus key as it greatly impacts the work of the organisation. It is therefore necessary for staff members to embrace the vision and goals of the organisation and fully commit to its success.
