Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters and surrounding villages in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced, professional for the position as Referral Patient Attendant.
Referral Patient Attendant (1 position)
Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province
Work locations: Chiang Mai Province
Main Responsibilities/Duties
Serve as an interpreter and translator for the patients and their relatives to receive proper medical treatment at Thai hospitals
Organize all kinds of consultations of the patients referred at Thai hospitals (OPD, IPD, lab, X-ray and etc.)
Be the contact person for referred patients and their relatives/caretakers during their stay at Chiang Mai
Arrange the appointments for follow up and further medical procedures of the patients
Obtain drugs and materials for the patients from Thai hospitals and assist them on prescriptions and instructions
Keep tracking of all documentations of the patients from Thai hospitals and send them to referral supervisor (birth certificates, death certificates, prescriptions, lab results, etc.)
Follow up the admitted patients at all Thai hospitals for up to date clinical situation of them and regularly update to the referral supervisor and MI doctors
Communicate with referral supervisor and referral assistant at MSR at all issues of referral patients
Arrange transportation of patients by driving MI car from patient house to Thai hospitals at CNX
Ensure the well-being of a MI’s car at CNX together with MI’s logistic team at MSR
Responsible for well-being of the patient house at CNX (food support, materials request, electricity bills, etc.)
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
University degree or equivalent in Public Health or similar
Preferably 2-3 years work experience in humanitarian field, working with vulnerable population groups.
Experienced in translating medical term to Thai/Karen(English)
Intermediate level of written and spoken English.
Good computer skills, Microsoft Office
Ability to communicate fluently in either Burmese and/or Skgaw Karen language is a must
Possible starting date: as soon as possible.
