Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters and surrounding villages in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced Thai national for the position as Field Assistant
Field Assistant (1 Year Contract)
Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province
Work locations: Mae Saring, Sob Moei District
Main Responsibilities/Duties
Support and assist to Community Mobilizer/ Hygiene trainer on planning, implementation, monitoring and coordination of field activities related to Health and WASH in refugee camps and surrounding Thai villages.
Support and assist to Community Mobilizer/ Hygiene Trainer on designing and implementing of trainings/ refresher training for Health committee members, Community Health Volunteers and WASTAN workers related to water, Sanitation and Hygiene.
Conduct participatory community assessments and setting up of village health committees in target villages.
Support to develop relevant IEC materials together with Thai health authorities according to the local context.
Providing monthly and specific activity reports analyzing events and providing useful recommendations.
Maintain up-to- date data bases for field activities
Translate Thai or Karen Language into English when necessary
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
Professional qualification and/or proven experience in the fields of Social Work, Education, Social sciences or other relevant field - respective diploma/degree would be an asset.
Previous experience in water supply and sanitation issues in Thai rural setting.
Experience working on Water Supply, Sanitation and Health issues in NGO setting.
Facilitation skills in related to conducting community assessment, organizing and leading workshop/training.
Experience of monitoring field activities related to Health and WASH and excellent analytical skills.
Fluent in Thai and Karen ( Pwo Karen with basic understanding of Sgkaw Karen languages.
Good command of spoken and written English will be added advantage.
Experience in report writing.
Strong ability to work within a team as well as independently.
Experience in working with refugee communities in complex environments
Possible starting date: as soon as possible.
