Title: Case Management Consultant

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces.
The IRC’s Protection program in Thailand works to integrate international humanitarian protection principles and gender equality into all facets of program implementation, while promoting increased access to justice and legal services for conflict-affected individuals and communities. The program seeks to protect and promote the rights of displaced persons in refugee camps, migrant communities and urban areas in Thailand, as well as in southeast Myanmar. The program ensures that people are safe in their homes and communities; that they receive appropriate support after experiencing harm, and aims to enable displaced people to exercise free and informed decisions on where to live.
As a member of the IRC Thailand Protection program, the Case Management Consultant will report directly to the Protection Coordinator. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for providing technical support regarding case management for urban refugee children, including capacity-building training and mentoring, to IRC’s partners in Bangkok and surrounding areas and coordinating closely with the Royal Thai Government (RTG) agencies to establish a sustainable mechanism in protecting urban refugee children.
The incumbent’s main objectives will be to ensure that: (i) in coordination with the Protection Coordinator, IRC’s partners receive ongoing technical support regarding case management principles for caring urban refugee children in their custody; (ii) the coordination between local NGOs and CSOs and RTG agencies, especially the Thailand’s Department of Children and Youth of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) are effectively initiated and facilitated for protecting urban refugee children and their families; and (iii) good practices of case management for non-Thai children in Immigration Detention Centers (IDCs) are advocated with the RTG agencies.
